Smannesman: I kind of get it, it's not just a matchmaking service anymore.
But Blizzard Tech is an awful name.
I kind of liked the Battlenet name personally and not sure what their internal logic is for the change. I can only speculate that perhaps they've decided that they want to expand what they do beyond selling their own games and become more like Steam or something, and that they felt they needed to rebrand for that or something. Hard to say for sure, but if it's just to continue as business as usual for Blizzard, I can't see what changing the name really buys them.

Having said that, a name change can be a good thing too depending on various factors - but I agree... "Blizzard Tech" just sounds like a terrible name to me. "Bliztech" would have sounded better perhaps, but who's to say... :)

tinyE: Shit.
For a second there I thought this meant I could actually own and play StarCraft 2.
Thats still on my wish list and Warcraft 2...... *hint hint*=p I just don't want anymore gaming platforms on my system (Steam and Origin).

Can't agree more. That's another proof that there are more and more clueless peeps taking decisions over there.

phaolo: Blizzard tech? Are they producing\selling hardware now? :P
heh, to me it sounds like a generic name for a small business offering customer support for general computer difficulties and problems. "Thank you for calling Blizzard Tech. All our represenatives are busy helping other customers at the moment..." That would be the automated message heard if you were to call Blizzard Tech, since they have a small staff and many people are calling to have their PC problems solved, and all solutions given involve a format and OS reinstall.
You get a cold shoulder at Blizzard Tech.
Or maybe they're ready to announce their new Blizzard computers, running DiablOS™ :P

Maighstir: Please make up a better one, the first one's got to be "Blizzard" though.
But it's Activision Blizzard, not Blizzard Activision.
I think it's that way, because of alphabetical order.
As long as it is not Actizzard, the name doesn't bothers me.

It is that way because they decided it should be that way when they merged to create Activision-Blizzard, you'll notice I already mentioned that "the company names don't go in that order" in the post you quoted.

The service isn't called Abttle.net though, so I had to change some minor details to make my arbitrary abbreviation fit.
