I have to agree, Sean Murray and Co. deserve a massive round of applause for spending this much damn time on NMS. No other company has ever done this for a non-MMO game, much less one that doesn't have any mandatory online hooks. This is literally more than anyone could have ever expected a developer to do, and the (hopefully) inevitable PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will give console players the experience we've been enjoying.

Honestly, I'm starting to wonder how the hell they're still keeping the lights on. Maybe it's time for HG to start work on something new? They've done SO much, I'd like to see them prosper.
The city stuff sounds cool, like what base building really should have been shooting for all along. Hopefully they'll have some incidental NPC conversations--I never cared for how only one of the base NPCs had anything to say or do after their little linear (and now mostly obsolete by other mechanics) quest lines.

Anothername: Still no female body types; especially with an expansion that has colony/NPC population management as a major aspect?

Martek: Are there Humans and/or mammals in the game?

All I've met are "aliens", that are "humanoid" but not necessarily "male" or "female" (particularly the Korvax and Travellers).

In contrast, when you say "no female body types"; are there even "male" body types, or just "humanoid" body types.

Maybe the "player model"? But, besides it also being "humanoid"; is it known if it's a "male" or "female"; if it even has a "sex"?

Also, the culture these days is heavily into "identity". As in "males" can "identify" as "female" (or any number of other "genders"). We no longer have "men" or "women". We have "birthing persons" or "non-birthing persons" - and they can be any of an infinite number of genders (whether I personally follow any of that isn't relevant - it's the current hard-driving "culture" being imposed upon us "for our own good").

Bottom line (to me): If there already ARE "male" body types in the game (not just "humanoid" - two arms and legs, etc.), then there should also be "female". But if they are all just "humanoid" then I don't get the objection...
There are typical male build humanoid body types and there are typical out of shape could be anything humanoid body types but there are clearly no feminine humanoid body types. Everyone is free to imagine whatever they want even that all the body types are actually 1 kilometer tall beings and some of them are actually giant mechs filled with an army of humans.

I was strictly speaking about the face value visual representation though; without any layers of suspension of disbelief. Its Al Bundys No Ma'am club. Just without the silly humor.
