Double twist! After saying Keaton dropped out, now they're saying Marvel went back to him and now they are in the final stages of negotiations. Source.

We don't know who he's playing, but there was a potential leak on 4chan a while ago saying they wanted him to play Norman Osborn, although in that case he wouldn't be the main antagonist, that would instead be Mark Rylance as Vulture.

Granted it's 4chan, so you should take it with a grain of salt, but the same leak did claim there would be Netflix series in development for Blade, Ghost Rider and Moon Knight, and that has been backed by other sources.
I hate titles like this... instant spoiler for those movies where the villain isn't immediately apparent to be the villain.

pimpmonkey2382.313: I'm so totally burnt out on comic book movies already.

tinyE: I hate to say it but so am I.

I think if they just took a couple of years off and then started up again I'd be fine, but this is getting ridiculous.
me too, and I never even watch them!

I did watch Birdman some months ago (mentioning Michael Keaton), it was reaaaallly bad (I couldn't believe how bad it was, it had so much potential!)

I'm not sure that's even a comic book movie?

No, I don't think it is, but it is a kind of super-hero drama, and Michael Keaton was mentioned so I thought of it in the context of both, and figured I'd warn others away from it if they were ever tempted (:

Funny! Birdman managed to cream the pants of enough Academy Award members to take home 4 Oscars!
There will be controversy.

Isn't there always?
I don't particularly like the new spidey because they made him even more of a lanky wiener. and also because they dumped andrew garfield unceremoniously apparently because he snubbed one of the japanese studio leads by not showing up to a wingding or something. and even though andrew garfield fucking annoys me I can't deny he made a pretty good spiderman.

I really like the toby video somebody made. that was great. he'll always be the king. The Real Spiderman.

I never really liked Spiderman anyhow. guy talks too damn much. I was always a Wolverine guy. but with Keaton in, I'm in.

edit: well nevermind.

Not on today's scale.
Seeing as I have absolutely no intention of watching the new Spider-Man movie after Civil War, I kinda hope Keaton doesn't waste his time with this. Still, I have to say could be a pretty great Norman Osborn. Having multiple villains though, does not sound good. It has never worked well for Spider-Man movies.

It never works for any of those movies. Every Batman movie had more villains than the previous one and each of them was ten times worse than the previous one.

I'm talking about the early 90's Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney movies.

I'm pretty sure he's not the main villain. He'll probably just act like Peter's friend in front of him while looking sinister when he's in the back, saying very foreshadowy stuff like "I'm green...with envy". Maybe provide the tech for the main villain at the most. We'll have a couple of movies of this then he'll become the Green Goblin.

Marvel needs a proper villain, instead of a random guy who'll inevitably die at the end and we'll never see again. I'm certain that's what they'll try to do with this.

I was going to say it never works, but then I thought about the Nolan Batman movies- all three had multiple villains (Ra's al Ghul/Scarecrow, Joker/Two-Face, Bane/Talia) and they were all great especially the first two).
