I played games in the '80s & '90s on Windows but haven't played for nearly 20 years. Now I have a Mac. I bought "Blake Stone Aliens of Gold" because I played it years ago. Downloaded GOG Galaxy for Mac. Went to my Library, clicked on Blake Stone (it says Installed) and pressed the green Play button but it turned white, went back to green. Game won't launch. There's an icon in my Mac Launchpad, but that won't launch it either. GOG support says it may take a couple of weeks to get back to me.
Help! Thx.

I have no experience with Macs and I don't know for sure if this your issue but from what I understand, Apple have killed off support for 32-bit applications meaning a lot of old games no longer work on Macs:-

Navigate to the games directory and run it from there. Or, uninstall the game and Galaxy, and install the offline installer (if that exists for mac).

But yes, gaming support is much much better on Windows.

And if that doesn't work, try extracting the files needed to run the game, put them into a separate folder, install Dosbox, then run it from there.

Or download the game from somewhere else and manually configure it.

But, there's a reason why especially gamers/engineers prefer Windows and/or Linux because of the amount of tools/utilities/support available...

If you know how to compile, there is also this Blake Stone sourceport:

Psst there are no Mac releases for this sourceport, which is why I said "If you know how to compile".

AB2012: Love your avatar. I use the pic of Gromit reading "Electronics for Dogs" on another forum.

Heard back from GOG and it only took a couple of days--not weeks. "Unfortunately your operating system is not supported. This game is 32-bit only and will not work on macOS 10.15." When I bought the game it said “Works on: . . . Mac OS X (10.6.8)” but apparently that may have been the LAST version it worked on. I did think 32-bit apps would run on a 64-bit kernel but apparently not.

Thanks all for your comments.

You can try asking GOG for a refund. I don't know if it would apply to your case, since it's a matter of OS not being supported. But it doesn't hurt to try.
In the worst case scenario you could ask them to remove the game from your account and ask for a refund in order to buy another game on this store.

EDIT:
Or you may keep the game in your account. If you get a PC somewhere down the road you'll get to play the game again.
