So rumors are floating about the internet that we will see a new Witcher 3 DLC in 2026.
What do you think about that?

Also if true this will spark the next discussion about the meaning of "Complete Edition" :)
I think a rumor is a rumor until it is confirmed.

You are British, aren't you...so for you a rumor is a rumour ;)
Seems kind of doubtful imo.
CDPR is going to be busy with Witcher 4 and the Witcher 1 remake.
Witcher 3 is already quite old and even the latest "next gen update" relied on mods.

If the rumors are true, Fool's Theory is making this DLC (same studio as the Witcher 1 remake). I'd say it's semi-confirmed.
What we do know is happening, is that W3 will get a new patch soonish that will add cross-platform mod support via mod.io.

I did see some more stuff about the rumored DLC if people are interested.

So although this is a rumor, it apparently originates from two Polish youtubers that have been pretty accurate with CDPR leaks (they leaked that Ciri was going to be the next protagonist before the reveal trailer) and they were pretty confident in this leak so it does have some weight behind it.

Also, according to a comment on this reddit thread, CDPR has a different defintion of "DLC" from other studios. CDPR DLC tends to be free updates and small added content while more girthy added content like B&L, HoS, or Phantom Liberty for CP2077 are called "expansions." In this context, Witcher 3 DLC which maybe some updates and tweaks to the next gen update and maybe some free additonal quests make far more sense than a new "expansion" story imo.

Some other redditors do talk about how it could be an in-between W3 to W4 Ciri focused DLC to explain what she was doing in that time.
Some kind of free short story DLC that would reach the 50 something million players who bought Witcher 3 and revive the brand in time for the sequel and tie into the upcoming game (possibly even end in a cliffhanger) would make plenty of sense to me from a marketing stand point. Really, it's not like the industry really made any major leap beyond Witcher 3 in that last decade. They could probably make a whole new commercial expansion for it and it would be a hit. I'd sure buy it... except for the idea of it being outsourced which seems a tad odd and risks a product clashing with the rest of Witcher 3.

If quality level would be maintained, I would gladly buy it. As well as new DLC with necessary fixes for CP 2077.

Not necessarily a big issue here. Fool's Theory was founded by ex-CDPR devs, who knows, there might be more witcher veterans than in current CDPR.

That is very likely.)

I am pretty sure, it would be outsourced and compatible only with "next gen" version of the game. Therefore, I'm not really interested.

Even if there are, which is just an assumption, it does not mean, they will put much effort into a third-party project.
