So, I'm only here because I misread my games when getting them from Humbundle. No big deal, but still.. Anyways..
Could anyone tell me what GoG is all about from their perspective? is this essentially a place where old games come for another come back?

In a word, kinda. All the games here have been carefully crafted with holistic code and free range programmers and care in order to run on today's systems.

The primary principle is DRM free. That means no matter where and when, as long as you've bought the game, you keep it forever.

But some of the newest and finest games also grace this store.

Welcome to GOG!

There are old games and also newer games DRM-free. You can download an installer and can keep it on a HDD or whatever and play it without ever needing an internet connection again.

This was originally what it was all about. Now, they also sell indie games and more modern titles. The big feature of GOG is the DRM-free aspect, so no need for a client for single player games. Some multiplayer games do require GOG's Galaxy client though.

As an aside, if you prefer to use a client and want similar features to what Steam offers, you can consider using Galaxy. It's not necessary for your single player games though.
Whatever the Sentient Plant said. :D

Welcome to GOG forums.

The main things that distinguish GOG are
+ DRM free = NO Online checks for singleplayer games
+ Optional client = not mandatory for singleplayer games and many multiplayer games too (few newer multiplayer games do require the client)
+ the team tries to tweak old games to make them run well in modern OSs

Hmmm, I was going to point out their About page linked to up in the menu but it points to the GoG Galaxy page.

You mean all us people who hoard hundreds of games and talk, discuss and complain about them, but never ever play them for lack of time?

Don't forget to check the front page. Some free games today!

You'll notice some free games a lot around here. They come with sales, usually. Either an outright freebie or buy $5 and get a game free.

Drm-free was a new concept to me when I got here. I came for the oldies. But after I got here, I stayed for the Drm-free. When you buy a game here, it's yours. If you buy it at Ubi, steam or origin, they can (and a look around here will reveal real stories where they did) take your games from you. Some folks may have been disrespectful in a forum and lost thousands of dollars worth of games or some folks may have simply lost login credentials.

Here, you can back up your games on Dropbox, a flash drive, a dvd-r, Nas, or anything else you like.

Having access to your games comes in handy every now and then. Especially for game st hat you plan to play for the rest of your life (like kerbal space program, baldur's gate or witcher).

Enjoy your stay! And don't forget the freebies!

The rapper? Like, you mail your games to him, and he'll hold on to them for you?

Well, he does rule the world, doesn't he? He's probably capable of managing a few games.

That can certainly be arranged.
