Crap, last night this damn forum ate my response... retyping again, grrrrrr.
There are certainly "click and play" games for Mac. For example, right here, using filters for Mac in the search page:
https://www.gog.com/games?system=osx_106,osx_107&sort=bestselling&page=1 Some are emulated old games, and some have a "real" Mac version, but that doesn't matter to you. If you buy them here, everything is already configured and you just download, install, click the game icon and play. Since many of those games are old or new indie games, their price on sales is just a few bucks. If you're not in a hurry you can check the weekly sales and/or wait for the next big sale. As you don't have any games, you can still choose many under 2-3$.
If a game doesn't have a Mac version at all, you can still try to run the Windows version. There are two main ways of doing this:
- Install Windows in your Mac. You can dual boot OSX and Windows using Bootcamp. The problem is you actually need a Windows license to do that. The advantage to this is you are actually running Windows, no emulation, and games will work in your Mac like in any other laptop/PC.
- You can use a program called
Wine to "emulate" Windows on your Mac. It's not really an emulator, but imagine it is. You don't need a Windows license because everything runs inside your OSX, but you still need the game. Also, it can be a bit difficult to configure, but you can use a frontend like
PlayOnMac to help you install, organise and run your games. The drawback with this approach is that some games might work, some might not.
Torrent sites? As zeogold already said, we don't talk about that stuff here :)
And oh, console emulators? I don't use any, but there must be lots. No problem with that. Another matter is how you get the ROMs, but then again we'll not discuss that here.
