kalirion: Are Far Cry 2+ all open world/sandbox types? Is the first Far Cry the only one with actual levels that you go from the entrance to the end?
I can confirm that FC3, FC4, and FC Primal work the same as Blood Dragon, in that you get a combination of free open world gameplay and linear story missions (you could compare the latter to levels, but you usually get to choose when to do them and there are optional side missions, too). Open world gameplay consists of things like freeing outposts, rescuing hostages, climbing up towers to reveal parts of the map (AC style), finding collectibles and crafting materials, and in the more recent games, taming animals to ride or fight alongside you.

tinyE: Half way through #2. I still haven't decided if it's amazing or it sucks. :P
Yup, Far Cry 2 is one of those games where what was done well was done really well and what was done badly was done really badly.

LootHunter: To be fair - I've only played Far Cry 5 and enjoyed it immensly (except for the story ending which was quite contrived).
It's the same for everyone of us. The first Far Cry (of 3, Blood Dragon, 4, Primal or 5) is a pretty good game. The others are just repetitions with a new setting compared to the one you've played. Blood Dragon and Primal do have VERY different settings, but behind that, they're still the same lame repetitions.

There are also a few key mechanical differences in primal. Less focus on collectibles. More focus on hand to hand combat. Animals feel real and frightening. But yes, lots of similarities too.

tinyE: Word is that Uwe Boll is already working on the script.

Lifthrasil: Nah, the Stupid German Money tax hole was plugged. So Uwe is going to have a hard time finding money to keep making movies.
Damn, I like a lot of his movies.
The new far cry game looks like RAGE 2.

tinyE: the only thing that still really bugs me is getting from mission to mission. With the road blocks/check points, sure you can keep sneaking around to avoid them, but sometime getting to your mission takes longer than the mission not to mention when you end up having to go clear around the map just to avoid a stupid patrol. :P
You can drive the Assault Truck with the mounted grenade launcher (you find them only in Act 2) and blow up everyone in your path, until you reach your destination.

DadJoke007: Assholes can get really creative in their assholiness when there is money involved.
Boll hasn't directed anything since 2016. He is actually running a restaurant in Canada.

He's directing Restaurant Empire the Movie.
