Just a word of caution regarding this game: I have a boxed copy and recently tried to play this on both Windows 7 and XP computers and couldn't get it to run on either. There is very little about this game on the net and most of what there is consisted of people asking if anyone knew how to get it running (no-one provided any solutions).

It looks an interesting game and at some point I may dig out my old 98 PC to give it a go.

I don't have the game anymore as it was a loan from a friend, but it run smoothly on XP back in the days.

Has anyone played and can recommend me a good game? I'm good with old or new.

Total War: Napoleon. Unfortunately not here, also not necessarily the best Total War game.

You also have Cossacks II: Napoleonic Wars, however it fullifies your conditions partially.
