It would be soo awesome!
Bard's Tale series (avoid the DOS/Amiga versions of Bard's Tale 3; they're buggy)
Wizardry 8
Elminage Gothic

Shovel Knight
Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap

(I put a blank line to signify a change in genre; someone who likes the first group of games might not necessarily like the second, and vice versa.)

If you're willing to include console games, I could also mention the SaGa series; they're RPGs (could be considered JRPGs), but they do things differently. (To give you an idea of what I mean, only one game in the series has levels and experience points, and the remake of said game removed them.)

I could also mention Wizardry 4, but I don't consider that game to be accessible (at the very least, play Wizardry 1 first, and remember that the game expects you to be a good player; there's a reason the game gives you 8 save slots, for example.)

My favourite games are too many to fit in a single post, but i agree that the Drakensang games are great, especially The River of Time (prequel) -- didn't expect them to be that good and i was pleasantly surprised by them.

That's nice, but you should probably say a few words about them to make the recommendations more meaningful.

Agreed, those two are among my very favourite games and among the best RPGs I ever played. I think I liked the first one a little better, but both are escellent. Great gameplay, character progression and damn nice graphics. I just loved being in that world. It's a pity the series didn't continue (I'm not counting that Drakensang Online trash).

I just beat someone to death with a blow up rubber woman, so I want to recommend Saints Row the Third. :D
