timppu: You haven't seen a doctor yet? By that plan of yours it appears you don't even know yet what is causing the back problems, e.g. is it in the muscles or the vertebrae/spine? As a layman I assume that a massage and acupunture could maybe help if it was a problem with your back muscles (relaxing them), while a chiropractor works with the spine.
I won't even tell you to try to stretch the back yourself, as if you already have a tear in a disc in your spine (between two vertebraes), stretching it on your own might make the tear even worse. At that point the best option would probably be an operation, basically draining the broken disc (that's what they did to my older brother, I think).
misteryo: I've been to the doctor. He says sacroiliac joint. He gave me steroids and pain medication, hoping that reducing the swelling and pain would allow it to heal itself. The timeline is this: I won't even tell you to try to stretch the back yourself, as if you already have a tear in a disc in your spine (between two vertebraes), stretching it on your own might make the tear even worse. At that point the best option would probably be an operation, basically draining the broken disc (that's what they did to my older brother, I think).
Wed - back starts hurting
Thur-Fri - I take it easy, make sure to stretch and not lift things.
Sat. - Feeling so much better. Carry all the groceries up the stairs, play with my kids. By night time, back is pretty sore.
Sun. - Can hardly walk. Spasming, big pain. Some stumbling when I try to walk.
Mon. - go to doc, get prescriptions.
Mon - Fri - doing excercises, taking meds, taking a 2 hour lie-down in the afternoon. Really sore by night time.
Fri - very sore all day. Finish the course of steroids.
Sat (today) - can barely walk. Fell twice trying to walk up stairs.
Tomorrow - seeing a friend who is a physical therapist to determine next move.
That swelling and pain is there for a reason. Pain medication and steroids might only medicate the symptom and not the reason why you get your problems.
Edit: And I missed your last line. First day of my summer vacation and a stay up all night is what I blame. :/
Edit 2: I bet you have a crooked back and is therefore putting more pressure on one of your sides. Or you're just walking funny. As strange as it might sound it could be something like that.
