I currently read the reviews of Forbidden World
And have to laugh :)
The cool-looking monster on the VHS cover is mankind's own little mistake-creation, spawned on a spaceship where the crew was actually trying to discover new types of food sources. Now they're up against a continuously growing monster that somehow understands English, yet dramatically misinterprets the meaning of the verb "co-exist". Lone space ranger Mike Colby (Jesse Vint) is called to the rescue, but he doesn't really contribute anything, except having sex with the female crew members on board. What a guy! Another scientist member of the expedition eventually comes up with an admittedly creative (but totally ludicrous) plan to destroy the monster

It is all subject to taste. I would recommend the Hammer Horror collection, their original Dracula from 1958 and Universal Monsters Bluray collection.

Others would probably say The Omen, Poltergeist, The Shining and The Exorcist.

How about some Japanese Juon, Ringu etc

Some might say all that jump scare pish from the last 15 yrs!

At the end of the day... I love cheesecake. :P
psycho
the shining
the excorcist
halloween
friday the 13th 1
nightmare on elm street 1
hellraiser 1 and 2
evil dead 1 and 2
jaws

candyman 1 and 2

nosferatu both of them the 1922 original and the 1978 remake
hammers dracula ( just dont go to far they become risible by part 4 )
hammers curse of frankenstein

you know the basics the big names

after that you can move on to the likes of event horizon ( o like event horizon a lot but it is basically hellraiser on a space ship )

Alien, obviously, I liked The Conjuring but it was more of a ghost detective story like an ep of The Real Ghostbusters cartoon than really scary

Also I saw The Price of Darness quite recently - that was good and then there's Cronenberg - Scanners, The Thing, The Fly etc. Good stuff!
Deadgirl (2008) . Zombie movie with a twist ;)

I do have the evil dead collection, which I bought when they announced a new part a couple of years back.

It wouldn't need to be a whole list, but I know you guys love lists :P. Maybe THE horror movie anyone should see, for whatever reasons.

For me it would be 'The Fog', I'd seen it as a child and will never forget the guy with his grappling hook (Enterhaken). The predators could come from anywhere, as fog could get through any tiny hole in the wall or under the door... brrr
I'd like to recommend the Pang Brother's films, like The Eye(Gin gwai) and Re-Cycle(Gwai wik).

well i got so many horror movies i dont know where to start
for me THE horror movie would either be the shining or evil dead or jaws which is stunning in its simplicity and has nothing to do with the majority of the horror\slasher movie cliche's

though i am partial to event horizon and the 1922 nosferatu as well
