So I was checking the steam store page for Mortal Kombat X and noticed the comically expensive price tag. I'm pretty sure someone in the distribution side of things accidentally (or maybe consciously) tagged it to feature the same price for console versions on the PC-Steam version of the game (Console games are taxed in a different and mostly wrong way around here).

The thing is, the price is so bizarrely out of touch with reality, that users have given the game the tag/marker “Roubo” which means “robbery”, the same tag used for Payday 2 and similar robbery themed games.

Anyway, it is a damned shame too. MK is one of those games I like so much that I am willing to pre-order and I was going for the “Pay More, You Stupid” edition.

But I'm not THAT stupid.

Too bad, I guess I'll have to wait until the Complete Edition is out and maybe cheaper, a year or two from now.

Here's the steamdb.info page for your comparative pleasure: MKX
I guess there is always new levels of greed to achieve... With the kombat pack that price goes even higher up.

PS: Just saw internet conection on system requirements, so that should help to sell even more... lol

Kotaku Brasil

Apparently, according to Kotaku Brasil, the price is a mistake and the PT-BR version of the game will actually cost R$99,90, a way more common price for brand new PC games in Brazil. It seems to have something to do with local pre-orders beginning only in March, though I don't really understand why the early pre-order would cause this.

We’ll have to wait and see.
People are stupid enough to pay the high prices. It shouldn't be a surprise that they go up.
Same happened with Deadpool.
Think I'll reinstall MK 4. Cost me $10. :D
Mk trilogy and 4, are like the best in the series. Especially for the heart and soul of a good old gamer... After all, the most recent MK, is a trilogy remake WANNABE! And it does not even include all players the original trilogy had...

You know, I really wish I could play an arcade port of this game on my PC. An official well-done one would be sweet, but I'd settle for a proper MAME emulation.

You know, my favorite ones are MK9 and MK2. Really, gameplay wise MK9 is fantastic and the MK3/Trilogy cast finally looks like they belong to the MK universe.

I mean, seriously, MK 3 doing away with Scorpion, Johnny Cage and a few others was awful and most new characters felt really out of place in the context of the series visually. While UMK3 fixed the lack of proper ninjas, the game felt less polished than the original 3. And those "banalities"... so much less interesting than the ones in MK2.

I know MK9 lacks Motaro and the chameleon dude and dudette, but I don't think that's much of a loss, none of them was all that interesting to begin with.

I am pretty sure MK 4 was made specifically for PC. I think that's why a lot of traditional fans hated it.
Who cares about MK anyway...

I didn't. :P
tinyE stoopid.
Why? Even if on PC, it was one of the best games i have ever played there, and THEN! Also, that information is wrong. It had and still has, a N64 version/rom (and i think a PS1 as well, but i am not sure about this one).
