Anyone planning on playing the upcoming Monster Hunter? I ended up watching some footage the last few days and I'm so psyched for it! It was so sweet seeing the palico's in such high quality and the gameplay looks great as well.

[Official website][Chef Palico's video][Announcement Trailer][14 mins of gameplay]

Edit: Of course now it decided to actually post my first attempt at posting this despite a formatting error in the code, lol

Absolutely. It is No. 2 on most anticipated games behind only Dragon Quest XI. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is one of the reasons I bought a WiiU. World looks amazing and Capcom has already stated no loot boxes so the core gameplay will still be there.

The only worry I have is how much emphasis seems to be placed on using the environment and the surroundings to beat monsters. The trailers and some gameplay footage has the monsters run to certain areas for the final showdown where you almost have to use the environment to beat the monster - it almost seems QTE like to me. I absolutely hate QTEs.and prefer a more organic playing experience.

I own Monster Hunter 3 and, despite many attempts, I just never got into the game.

It doesn't feel like a bad game, but after a half hour I just drop it, saying I'll come back later, yet never do. Not until 6 months to a year later when I try starting the game again, and the same thing just repeats itself.

Yeah, I can understand that. I did that with my first experience with Monster Hunter, too. Unfortunately, you really have to give it 1-3 hours. I would really say 2-5 hours to really start to understand and appreciate the game.

That may seem like a lot, but for a game about hunting HUGE monsters and crafting it doesn't play like other games. You don't beat up/shoot fodder for 5-15 minutes before you fight a boss or miniboss or do grinding against weaker enemies for an instant loot drop and experience gain. It doesn't have that instant situation where you are playing the depth of game at the outset.

Once you really fight the first monster and then second monster on contracts and begin the crafting process and start getting better and trying out the style of hunter you want to be the game gets excellent.

Agreed, it really has quite a learning curve in the beginning because there's really a lot of stuff you need to prepare for a real monster hunt. I remember I got my ass handed to me when i first started playing by a bullfango I ran into up a ledge. That thing was a pain to fight, and yet... it turned out to be an absolutely normal mob in the end, it wasn't even a Monster

At some point this game just starts to click, or it doesn't. But it definitely takes some time for it to happen. When it does though, there's a great game that'll keep you busy for a long time :)

Of course, I am gonna play this. Before this game, Scalebound was the only true monster hunting type game coming to Pc.But Microsoft canceled it so Monster Hunter World is the one I want then.It seems really great.

Have you seen or heard of Dauntless?

This game looks really awesome, too.

Another look.

This looks awesome too.Seems like we are getting some monster hunting games after all.
Sure, I'll give it a go.

As long as it's released on GOG.

But seriously, it looks great. I really hope the PC version won't be exclusive to Steam.
I added Dauntless to the community wishlist here so give it a vote and maybe we can get it DRM-free on GOG.

It is free-to-play so I am not sure if GOG would touch it or if they could run it through Galaxy or not.

The F2P is the only thing that is a negative from what I have seen so far.
