We could work through the Microprose back catalogue - Microprose --> Spectrum Holobyte --> Hasbro --> Infogrames --> Atari --> God knows who.

I think there's only dragonsphere and Pirates! on here at the moment.

I agree that we should get more Micropose stuff on here, one that I've always been interested in was the original Magic the Gathering game by Micropose

Yeah, I'm avoiding any trails that end in 'Infogrames / Atari' until we know where they've gone to...
I was wondering if it was safe to assume that the rights to the Magic the Gathering: Shandala game had reverted to Hasbro like the Infinity Engine D&D games though...

Hmm Subwar 2050 was originally a MicroProse game and its on here as Interplay - how did they end up with it?

OK added Magic from 1997 assuming the rights have gone to Hasbro, then added the Duels of the Planeswalkers games as they are self published by WotC
Also added Rogue Trooper by Rebellion
(just to be clear, even though these IP started in other media - CCGs and comics the game publisher owns the IP so it isn't external, licensed IP)
Anyone know if Blue Moon Red Owl have the rights to all the old Gremlin games? There's Wild Metal Country at least from them...
Imperium Galactica 1&2 (same developer as Nexus)
Pax Imperia: Eminent Domain

I think Wild Metal Country is with Rockstar/Take Two, since they're hosting it for free:

Err, at least it was available.

Ah, OK, cheers

The publisher is more important than the developer Imperium Galactica is listed on Mobygames as published by Atari, Nexus is listed on here as published by 'HD Publishing' if you know they've got the IG games too I'll include it...

Similarly Pax Imperia is listed as Published by THQ...

Cheers

Ok.. well at least Pax Imperia is abandonware and is playable on win 7. Though I still miss IG :)
So, much, WANT!
The Last Remnant (Square-Enix)
Theme Park series (EA), unless you consider Theme Hospital to be part of the same series
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (EA, though co-published with 38 Studios according to Wikipedia, so maybe it half-qualifies?)
First of all, there's no way I would allow CoD onto this site. Second of all, why just Burnout: Paradise? Why not the rest of the series?

Fesin: GSC Game World:
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
It's arguable whether it's an original IP. Sure, one would think that it's only an homage to Roadside Picnic but when some German company announced a game based on Roadside Picnic one guy from GSC Gameworld claimed that they have the exclusive rights to use Roadside Picnic in a video game or something - which seems absurd since this would *kinda* demand S.T.A.L.K.E.R to be an official game adaptation of Roadside Picnic while it seems pretty obvious that it isn't. Or is it?

Personally I'd say that it IS an original IP though and that the GSC guy who claimed that they have the exclusive rights is a lying douche.

I'd concur with you. Unless an actual licensing agreement was entered into with the Strugatsky estate trustholders, GSC has got precious little claim. Somehow I doubt they've paid any residuals to either the Strugatsky trustholders or to Tarkovsky, whose cinematic interpretation of Roadside Picnic they also reference. People like to say "inspired by" or "in the spirit of" when they don't want to pay for the rights (or simply can't get them), but it takes some stones to then turn around and try to deny another the same latitude.

Fever_Discordia: snip
Assuming that all the Sierra franchises went to Activision:
Woodruff and the Schnibble (similar to Goblins but a separate IP as far as I can tell)
Hunter Hunted
Empire of the Ants
Aces of the Deep

EA:
Freedom Fighters (although the rights may have been passed to Squeenix - also present on GOG though, so doesn't really matter)
Need for Speed series

Square Enix:
Kane & Lynch

Ubisoft:
Shadow Company
Conflict Zone

Codemasters:
Race Driver Series (was on GOG, has been removed)
Colin McRae/Dirt series (was on GOG, has been removed)
Second Sight (was on GOG, has been removed)
Prisoner of War
Dizzy series

The fun part is that the German company claimed to have met with the remaining Strugatsky brother shortly before he died and to have secured the rights with a contract while nobody at GSC seems to have ever contacted him (according to the article where I got the story from - it was from a good magazine, the CD-Action, so I assume that it's true).

Edit:
Here's part of the story on it. Okay, either I remembered something the wrong way or the article I read wasn't quite correct. According to this article here bitComposer is the insane assholish company here claiming that owning the rights to Roadside Picnic automatically provides them with all the rights to the STALKER universe. That's fucked up.
