EDIT:

Looks like EA changed their mind about Mirror’s Edge and removed it from the delisting announcement:

https://www.ea.com/games/battlefield/legacy-sunset

The Battlefield titles in question will still be delisted.

END EDIT

"Starting April 28 2023, Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company 1 & 2 and Mirror’s Edge will be removed from digital storefronts and you will no longer be able to purchase them."

https://www.ea.com/games/battlefield/legacy-sunset

Obviously Mirror's Edge is the only game of consequence to GOG, but be aware if any of the Battlefield games are important to you.

Reason given : "This is in preparation for the retirement of the online services for these titles which will happen on December 8 2023."
Between this and Unreal, it's the perfect reminder of why I like single-player games to remain 100% single player & offline, and leave the multi-player / online stuff to the Fortnite crowd...

Edit: Looks like it was a mistake at EA's end.

What online services? Mirror's Edge doesn't seem to have an online component here on GOG. I can't find any trace of it on Steam either, but I find their site difficult to navigate.

Probably EA just forgot that GOG version doesn't have it unlike other stores, so there is no reason to remove it from here.
Perfect excuse for a remake/remaster/reboot of the franchise.

Mirror's Edge is single player only. It's got nothing to do with multiplayer. It's just simply less players in their new casinos if they're happy playing good old games. EA happily puts MTXes in SP games too. Acting like MP is inherently worse or less valuable is a terrible false argument and enables such behavior. Expect Mirror's Edge be removed from GOG.
Hope there'll be a sale at least, I'll have to pick up a copy alongside with BC2 on Steam, rest I hunt down physical if I ever get a console.
All of these companies are frauds, like Phil Spencer talking about game preservation is so funny when they shut down servers for their first party games, let third parties run scam operations that last less than a year but punish you if you speak out or don't even figure out proper backwards compatibility and make up dumb excuses as to why but they totally support preservation you guys. No need to give them more excuses with stupid in-fighting like "but idc about the game anyways" and "I'm so above playing multiplayer games, im not a zoomer"

What if they remember the game is here, but don't remember they patched online features out?

Another one? Didn't they reboot Mirror's Edge a couple of years ago?

There are two Mirror's Edge games. Original and Catalyst. Are you referring to both or the original only?

The news from EA only refers to the original Mirror's Edge - I'm sure Catalyst will have it's time eventually :P
Sucks. Mirror's edge doesn't have a multiplayer though (at least officially... there is some kind of mod, but no idea if it is legit), so the reason for delisting has to be something else than online services. Unless they mean some auth servers or whatever as "online services".

MrFortyFive: Mirror's Edge (and various Battlefield games) delisting on April 28th

Quote: "For Bad Company 1 & 2 and Mirror’s Edge, you can still continue playing them and use their respective offline features, such as the single player campaign."
I own Mirror's Edge on Steam.

With all due respect, anyone saying Mirror's Edge (Original, the first one, not Catalyst) does not have any Multiplayer is unfortunately wrong.

Mirror's Edge does indeed have a internet / server implementation for a a Time Attack mode where you share your Speed Running times through levels with a server and friends through an online learderboard.

In this mode, when you're online, you automatically share your movements and per-level time completion with others and while you're playing, you can see other players "shadows" as 'red ghosts' that run through the map. These red ghosts "Runner Vision" ghosts, are the best time players around the world.
I don't know if this still work to this day though, but it used to work this way in the past.

So yes, Mirror's Edge is indeed singleplayer, but with a huge Time Attack, Learderboard, shared with their servers.

GOG's version probably have this but it must require Galaxy or do not work properly.
I hope they don't remove GOG's version though.

Steam's Mirror's Edge can be easily turned into a DRM-Free experience too, so, if you own it there, I suggest you search how to do it, and do it fast, even if they maintain the game on user accounts that already have the game.

That's the point, it's basic leaderboard stuff, should've used platforms to handle it instead of their own server.

I would not call a function that collects data on every move you do in-game and share it with the world 'just a leaderboard' :P

But to be fair, as far as I know, It used to be this way only on Time Attack mode.
