Braggadar: Guys, you're responding to a thread necroed by a bot account, and furthermore you're replying to users who originally commented over 2 years ago. I'm pretty sure they're not interested continuing this old discussion.
Ha ha I did not even bother to look at the year this topic was posted.
Damn you Microsoft!

Today I installed the latest feature update for Windows 10. There was a link "Click here to find out about changes included in this update", so I decided to check it out.

I ended up to a page which said something like "This feature update contains changes to improve productivity and management.".

Ummm, ok, that certainly was helpful.

Changelog:
- various bugfixes and security patches

Software developer's classic aka "no one read it anyway" :P
It's rather funny that for all the hate on MS's handling of MC, the game has received far more updates, new content and support that it ever did under that lazy bastard notch.

That's probably because the last real "feature" update for Windows 10 was 2004 in early 2020. The following updates: 20H2 (aka 2009... They changed the naming scheme), 21H1, 21H2, 22H1 and 22H2 have all been nothing but small KB updates with hardly any notable additions, beyond a few enterprise policies.

On the other hand, 22H2 brought many changes to Windows 11.
Curiously I received an e-mail from Microsoft just 2 days ago:

''Starting on 10 March 2022, a Microsoft account is required to continue playing Minecraft: Java Edition.
You are receiving this email because our records show that your Mojang account has not been migrated and thus will no longer work to play Minecraft: Java Edition.''

LOL @ the people who did not notice that this topic was necroed.
I just stumbled upon this forum and saw your post about Minecraft Java edition requiring an MS account login soon. It's interesting to see how Microsoft's recent acquisition of Zenimax/Bethesda is connected to this move, and it looks like they're really serious about taking gaming on PC to the next level. On a related note, if any of you are looking for Minecraft mods, I recently discovered this awesome site called that has a huge selection of mods for Minecraft, including some really cool ones for the Java edition. While it may seem like bad news for GOG games in the future, it's also a sign of healthy competition in the gaming industry, which could ultimately benefit gamers.

Probably making everything online-only, like Blizzard already has for all their games.
Or you could... you know... run an older version of Minecraft and not worry about it, and play locally on your computer...
Oorrrr....get the free fan made version and play however you like online or offline.

It also has nothing to do with piracy. It is called MineClone and Mine Test. No idea why to this day minecraft has no story structure or interactive npc people.....whatever pops yer cork.

Kvasio: Migrating accounts felt like a chore for me, but once it was done everything seemed to work a bit more seamlessly. It’s kinda funny we’re revisiting this topic now. It’s a solid reminder to keep our digital ducks in a row, so to speak.
