If you go to Youtube and look at the comment sections for the Minecraft videos "In search of diamonds" and "Minecraft song by Bobby Yarsulik" you'll notice that there is a large number of people all blabbing on about how much they agree that Minecraft is ruined, it's too complicated, and yadayadayda. I for one, do not fully agree with such claims. But before I explain my reasoning for such a crime, let me tell you my history with MC.
One day I was searching Youtube for some pokemon video then all of a sudden I stumbble across this video about... Mine... Craft? It was a video showing some cool world seeds but I did't know that, I was just stunned by the retro and boxy look of the game. Next thing I knew I was watching the Yogscast "how to survive the night" series from beginning to the end of the first season. I also watched their video about the beta 1.3 update and from then on I kept track of MC's development until beta 1.8 when I finally bought the game. Yes, It was only then when I actually got to play. Needless to say I really dug the game. (pun slightly intended) These days I'm into MC on and off (currently on) but I just wanted to give you people the position I am coming from.
Now then, onto my opinion.

Some of these circle-j**king peeps complain about the most menial things. "Waah! Zombies don't drop feathers! Waah! they changed the gravel and cobblestone texture! Waah! It isn't the same!" These guys I think are the ones worth ignoring. They claim that because roses have a different name, the whole game is ruined.

The ones with slightly more interesting arguments are those not entirely based on nostalgia. Such as those claiming the hunger bar ruined survival. I disagree wholeheartedly you see before beta 1.8 all you needed to do to "survive" was to dig down 3 blocks, put a dirt block above you, and then congratulations! You just "survived" there is literally nothing else you need to do to stay alive. Now with the hunger system the game officially earned the title of "survival" since you are always on the clock inching towards death. this encourages you to build a house and farm to stay alive.

I will agree with them one a few things though 1. I think that ore is a little too common and 2. the community consists of almost nothing but 8 year olds.

That all for now, if you have something to say on this whole matter feel free to discuss
Burning houses down should be an olympic sport.

kek
Also if anyone wants to talk about the dungeons etc. feel free to do so
As someone who was very late to the MC craze and now has a save game with almost 5 days of game time on it, I can say that the only thing that really annoys me is that you have to use external sources for recipes and can't find them in-game. Other than that MC is my "comfort food" type game - the game I play when I don't want to play my RPGs or FPSs or what have you - MC and WoW.

they were, I just wanted to give those salty about the changes a chance to defend their position
Uh.. a Minecraft topic now? Do you come from the past? Jk :P
Anyway, Youtube comments are the worst, don't even bother with them.

I don't think that any update really ruined MC.
I just wish that Mojang didn't have sold it away and that they could have improved its:
- automation (remember those great industrial mods?).
- RPG side (combat and stats are too simple for my tastes).
- ores and craftable items variety (it's still poor in vanilla).
- monster specs and diversity (they're too few in the normal world and creepers are too damaging)
- objectives, by adding optional rgn quests.
