Well, it may not help you, but dragon age on the pc has live pause, don't know why its not on the console. If you think Diablo 3 is good, and oblivion unmodded is good, then there's not much help for you. Skyrim is also far better on pc as you can the mod the hell out of it. Personally I try to play a game on the bed platform, ie controller is great for fighting, driving games. For rpgs and fps I would use a pc.

theonlyone.338: Mass Effect is too slow (Im 1 hour into the game).
If you can't get past the avalanche of lore in the citadel that's a shame, my gf had the same problem the first time and I pushed her to continue anyway eventually and now ME 1-3 are among her absolute top favorite games (got lucky with her romance choice too)
Mass Effect 1 is the best of the series, and Dragon Age 1 as well. Two really poor series that decided to go away from what made the first game of the series great: RPG. The second and third Mass Effects are cover based shooters and Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition are both party based hack and slashers. Witcher 2 and 3 are good, as is Dragon's Dogma and Dark Souls. And Demon's Souls.
\Dragon Age has several classes, just 3 archetypes. The specialized classes become available at later levels.

At least Mass Effect 2 and 3 still feels like Mass Effect compared to the radical departures of Dragon Age sequals.
Excluding not knowing of computers or lacking the funds to build a proper one, I don't understand why people would choose to play multi-platform RPGs on a console.

Speaking of Mass Effect, anyone else than me that actually enjoyed non-ammo, over-heating weapons? I thought it was a breathe of fresh air and it felt more sci-fi like.
The Dark (and Demon's if you have PS3) Souls series are very Western-styled, though action-heavy, RPG's. Outside the few recommended already (Deus Ex, Fallout 3/NV, Witcher 2/3), that'd be my only additional recommendation.

Red Dead Redemption? :D
Here are some other ones that I am aware of:

Wizardry: Released for NES (US, JP, note bug that makes AC useless), SFC (JP), PSX (JP), and a GBC adaptation (JP).

Wizardry 2: Released for NES (US, JP (as Wizardry 3)), SFC, PSX, and GBC (all JP). All versions except PSX have been rearranged to be accessible to level 1 characters, with monsters from Wizardry 1, 3, and 4 added.

Wizardry 3: Released for FC, SFC, PSX and GBC (all JP, all but PSX as Wizardry 2).

Wizardry 4: Released for PSX (JP). Note that there is also an Arrange version on the same disk.

Wizardry 5: Released for SNES (US (note pun-destroying censorship), JP, simplified NPC interaction), and for PSX (JP, note BACORTU doesn't work).

Wizardry 6 and 7 also have Japanese console ports.

Ultima 3: Released for NES (US, JP). Note that these versions are significantly different from computer versions.

Ultima 4: Released for NES (US, JP). Quite different from the PC version. Also exists an SMS port (EU only) that is more faithful to the original, but there are still differences, like being able to shoot diagonally.

Ultima 5: Released for NES (US, JP), but the port is bad and apparently has a bug that makes the game unwinnable.

Ultima 6: Released for SNES. Some spells removed, most notably Enchant. (Most of the removed spells were either useless or only good for exploits or playing around.) Otherwise, one of the more faithful Ultima ports.

Might and Magic 1: Released for NES. Some differences, as usual (can't leave town until level 3, for instance). Nasty Bug that allows Locust Plagues to wipe out your party if they get even one turn. (I believe it's actually a combination of two bugs, one which lets them hit for 255 damage (instead of 10), and another that restarts the round if anyone dies).

Might and Magic 2: Released for SNES (port is badly broken, avoid it) and Sega Genesis.

Might and Magic 3: Released for SNES. Port is passable, but most effects that are supposed to boost Personality permanently boost the wrong stat instead.

There's also apparently a Famicom port of Dragon Wars (JP only). A prototype English version apparently exists, but only part of the game is actually playable.
