I'd like to see Marvel team with Netflix to produce modestly budgeted films (40 to 50 million) for characters that fall outside of their theatrical plans and that don't necessarily require the 13 to 22 episode a season treatment. Feature length one-shots, if you will. Which characters, who might not otherwise get a chance in the spotlight, would you like to see explored in such a format?

Have you already finished watching all 13 episodes of Daredevil? :-)
Yes, of course. :)

A Marvel character that can have his story covered in ~2 hours? Does such a thing exist?

Hard to say, though I'm yet to watch Daredevil, I keep thinking the format would fit the Punisher very well. But a Netflix feature film would not be bad either.

Hell, just let me watch Frank Castle kicking ass and delivering copious amounts of lead to heads forever... :D

Shang-Chi could also give us a nice movie, though it would probably end up being a little generic on the characterization side.

Blade could be nice both as a series and as a movie, but the problem is that it has been done.

Moon Knight would face comparisons with Batman and so would Squadron Supreme regarding the Justice League.

It’s hard to say, really. A small budget fits Marvel’s urban heroes better than anything else, so it’s difficult to pitch something way out of this scope.
What about Great Lakes Avengers? Squirrel Girl? Sleepwalker? Man-Thing? Nightmask?

It would have to be for characters a little out there or so far in their niche that marvel would be unsure if the character would work in a full theatrical release. i don't think it would work with second stringers, since there's a lot of repetition in those to some more famous marvel characters and their stories sometimes aren't that original.

I think some of the less famous, newer properties with a young cast might work. Marvel hasn't done anything with it's teen properties. Runaways, maybe? Although they sound like they could succeed in a full blown blockbuster treatment.
I would prefer that most of my lesser-known favorite characters (Darkhawk, Sleepwalker, Silver Sable, etc.) get 13-24 episodes because they have such robust adventures and character arcs. However, there is one that I could totally see effectively captured in a single movie; Slapstick!

I mean, the budget might be tight for a story about a living cartoon and, if they aren't careful with his portrayal, he could be mistakenly bashed for ripping off Jim Carrey's "The Mask", but he is a character that I've liked for a long while and who doesn't get any attention anymore (obscure cameos notwithstanding).

I'm not sure a 2 hour movie about a girl dressed as a squirrel steamrolling the entire villain community of the Marvel Universe would be that much fun.

If it's already too hard to do a Superman movie because he's utterly overpowered, just imagine how much hard it would be to do a Squirrel Girl one, considering she's even more powerful. I mean, she sure is powerful enough to bring down Thanos, Dr. Doom and other Eldritch Abominations all by herself.

(This is not a joke; she really has defeated those guys in the comics… though that may be a joke from the authors themselves…)

Ha ha, I loved those guys back when I was a Marvel fanatic! I'd see that movie, just for the fat chick.
Actually, Moon Knight, Elektra and Hellcat could be on the Netflix level as series. Those are non-superpowered characters (well, mostly). Any character without powers could qualify.
Wonder Man would be cool; bring on The Reaper nemesis and that'd be fun.

Showcasing the original Captain Marvel might work; it's a "retro" story not likely to muddle current cinematic universe continuity.

Nova!

Disney does not have theatrical rights to the X-men franchise; but I wonder if they could make a small screen series... if so go for it.
