opeter2: Nice, but will wait for a bigger discount ;)
Dude. You were the first to comment under a Wave II of Disney games release post that people have been hoping for, dreaming of and talking about (and asking us about all over the place - AND WE COULDN'T SAY A THING until now).

And what you have to say about it is "nice".

Really? Like, really? :p

Malek86: So can anyone try if the GOG version of X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter can be played without a joystick?
To quote the game card's system requirements: "Minimum system requirements - Windows: Windows XP/Vista/7/8, 1.8 GHz Processor, 1 GB RAM, 3D graphics card compatible with DirectX 7 (compatible with DirectX 9 recommended), Mouse, Keyboard, Controller/Joystick"

So it seems like you've gotta have one - that, or a controller.

Malek86: Yeah, I know... but I'd still rather have confirmation, because I remember that my disc release would literally refuse to start unless you had a joystick connected. Seeing as the Windows version of Tie Fighter still has the joystick requirement, I don't know if GOG touched that or if they left it as is. Then again, maybe installing the expansion allowed you to play with the keyboard. I dunno, I never bought that one.

Also, the requirements for X-Wing Alliance say the same thing, but I distinctly remember that the game didn't require a joystick.

In other words, if someone can try, that would be the best :P
It requires a controller or joystick :)

Malek86: I see. Well... I guess I was hoping for too much.

What about Alliance? Was my memory right on that one allowing you to play with the keyboard?
From the game card and sorry for caps:

IMPORTANT NOTICE: STAR WARS®: X-Wing Alliance requires a controller or joystick.

:)

Fesin: Awesome! To bad I'm still broke, but I'll probably still pick up KoTOR II, just can't pass that one up.

Btw., do GOG employees have to refer to Star Wars as Star Wars™ from now on?
No, we refer to everything as "Ships that go ZEEEEWWWM! in space and charge laz0rs!"

:P

PaterAlf: It isn't mentioned in the newspost, but did we just see a permanent price drop for Secret of Monkey Island SE and Knights of the Old Republic I? Both have a regular $9.99 price point now. If I'm not mistaken it was $12.49 when they were released here some months ago.

Edit: Ninja'd by Gragar. How am I supposed to beat a cat?
By eating less cookies, for starters :P

WalterwickJack: Thanks GOG!!! :)

RadonGOG: What the heck? At least the edition sold in Germany clearly isn´t!
Newsflash: Germany is not DRM free! :O

Wishbone: And why couldn't you say a thing, if I may ask? No, wait, don't tell me, "You can't say", right?
Because NDA, that's why :P
avatar
JudasIscariot: Because NDA, that's why :P
avatar
stg83: Well you could have still vaguely hinted at it ala enigmatic hints. ;)
No way, not with LA/Disney games. Sorry but those are too big for hints.

Wishbone: So the whole "release in batches of 6 games at a time and keep everything, especially release dates and game titles, a deep dark secret from the people whose money we want" is the official plan from the clever heads at the Disney marketing department? Good to know.

Well, not knowing that this was coming, I'm flat broke right now, so I won't be buying any of the games from this batch right now. Seeing how that means I'll miss the introductory discount, I probably won't be buying any of them in the near future either. Great marketing strategy. Good job getting my money, Disney. Well done.
Due to the fact that these are older games we have to test them thoroughly, fix them as necessary, and then re-test everything.

Look, I know you have a beef with us not revealing the dates and all with these games but do note that with the Disney games everything has to be perfect or as close to perfect as possible*. Also, if we put these up in the Upcoming tab and something didn't work somewhere with any of these games then we, GOG, would have to deal with an angry community demanding those games right now.

*this does not mean that other games don't get a perfect or close to perfect release.

opticq: Could this mean The Force Unleashed in 40 hours?
Don't ask me, I have my brain wiped before I leave the office MiB-style :P

DireRabbit: I saw Galactic Battlegrounds, I bought Galactic Battlegrounds.

My CD version disappeared awhile ago and I am so happy to have a copy of this game again!

Time to download and see what's included. .yea, I purchased it that fast I didn't even look so see what else, If anything, is included.
2 manuals and the tech trees :)
avatar
lunah: Why are these called digital premier when these games have always been digital and have always been distributed digitally?
Th ones with the Digital Premiere tag have never been distributed in a digital form but only in retail :)
avatar
frenchlba: So, who else finds gog's stupid and wrong advertising stupid and wrong?

Apparently, some of the games have their "digital premiere", or in the french version, "Pour la 1re fois en version digitale", which means "for the first time in the digital version".

My old X-Wing vs. Tie-fighter disc is digital, so this is obviously wrong advertising by gog.
By "digital premiere" we mean "first time offered via digital distribution" :)

thebes: Not big in the Star Wars stuff myself. But if you get SWOTL it will be an instabuy for me.....
What does the abbreviation SWOTL stand for anyways?
