I really wish these games we available on Mac. When they were originally released LA always had them for both Mac and PC, which was great. It would be awesome if GOG did the same.
not that simple
the license may only pertain to the windows versions

and its still possible to play the windows version on your macintosh

either via bootcamp
vmware fusion
parralells
crossover
or wine

There have been rumors about Aspyr coming to GOG, and I think they have quite a few of those games ported to Mac. Also, weren't most Macs back in the day PowerPC ones, thus their programs are incompatible with current versions?

yes but there are emulation layers
max os X 6.8 (snow leopard ) had roestta and emulation layer that allowed you to run ppc code on intel macs

i kinda doubt they were the only ones

there is also basilik II and sheepshaver
both are freeware but neither are easy to get up and running
It would be nice though if GOG would at least tell us what is preventing the games' release on Mac (may be different for different games):

1) GOG is working on it
2) Not possible for legal reasons
3) Not possible for technical reasons

And those two emulators require the original ROM files and all of their entangled legal issues :)

2 and 3 are usually the most common culprits as to why particular games or versions of games are not here.

Even if you had the original Mac versions they would be useless on the Macs of today, totally different hard- and software. Your best choice are Boxer (DOSBox) for the DOS games and Wine for the Windows games. In fact, DOSBox is also how the DOS games are running on Windows.

Yes, but it still had to be an OS X application (or Mac OS X as it was called). Those games are old, they were written for Mac OS, which is an entirely different operating system that just has a similar name to Mac OS X. OS X is actually the successor to NextStep, the operating system from NeXT. NeXT was purchased by Apple and their technology is what is now running on Macs.
^ i am quite aware of all of that thanks
why do you think i brought up basilisk II and sheep shaver ?

I'VE TRIED USING PARALLELS AND IT JUST DOESN'T REALLY WORK THE SAME. PLUS WITH TIE-FIGHTER AND X-WING IT REQUIRES A JOYSTICK AS THE OTHER ONE WON'T RUN AT ALL. WHO HAS A JOYSTICK ANYMORE?
Sorry just realized that was in caps.
^ xbox 360 controller

and you'd be sur[prised how many people still have joysticks
Go with Crossover, beside bootcamp it's maybe the easiest and resource-wise best solution to play windows games on a mac. It's right now in one of these mac bundles (just searach for something like winter mac bundle). Of course it's not such as easy like gog or aspyrs easy-going installers, but it's still better then nothing. Of course it will not be the same nostalgia feeling like playing the original old mac version, but it's the closest you can get right now without having an old mac or playing around with basilsik or sheepshaver.

Also you should have an eye on paulthetall.com. Paul made a ton of wrappers for crossover and wineskin to play windows games on a mac. Right now he's pushing his own easy-to-use little program and his constantly output is really impressive. I wouldn't be surprised if he also will take his hands on some Star Wars games. But again, it will very likely not exactly be like the good ol' days when your mac was throwing bombs on you ;-)
