Heh, this thing is getting wilder and wilder.
So following the "totally reasonable" ban screenshotted in
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/looks_like_capcom_is_adding_drm_to_older_games/post133 I opened a ticket with Steam support because, quite frankly, the shameless removal of any pertinent information really pissed me off.
Fuckers are not just dumping Russian shadyware into everyone's old games, Steam itself doesn't even bother ensuring there's any kind of notification or it either for existing customers or people considering new purchases.
Got a reply from one of Steam's moderators (original might have been Capcom person) that it was "very legal, very cool." See attached.
The kicker - when I replied thanking him for clarifying Steams official corporate policy toward adding Russian shadyware into their customer's purchases, the mod deleted his original response and closed the ticket. After being informed I took a screenshot of his response.
Do these people even Internet?
I wanted to ask about what exactly about the whole post he thought was legitimately "offtopic" and "pointless," in a thread literally discussing addition of Russian Enigma Protector to older games long past their date of purchase, but why bother at this point.
This shit should get some serious oversight from applicable governments, but I'm not holding my breath. Sent a bunch of advisories out, got not a single acknowledgement - which is hardly surprising for our "pay to play" "government" system.
Still, this is literally one-step-away-from Russian cyberattack in the making, and being done with intentional supression of any kind of information about it.
Frankly, I hope some Kremlindrone pushes that button. Would be a much needed practical lesson for everyone involved.
