aonaselk: The Humble store version of the collector's edition also includes all of these extras, plus the soundtrack in FLAC format which I heard isn't on Steam. There are also recap videos of the six main episodes, I suppose for those who simply want to watch the story unfold without playing it.
That's interesting. They aren't listed on the store - only the regulkar CE extras (incluing the soundtrack). So they have the extras as DRM-free download?

Yeah. I bought the collector's edition a few days ago and it includes everything in Steam's "bonus materials" DLC despite not listing them. I don't own AW on Steam but I cross-referenced the extras and everything appears to be accounted for, so the Humble version is the way to go for anyone interested in having everything.

ChrisSZ: Some negatives: The controls might be clunky at times. And there are a few situations which can be "game-breaking" if you run out of flares and the game has already auto-saved. At least you can start the chapters individually.

Spectre: Make a shortcut to the game with -developermenu and you never need to run out of flares or ammo again.
Nice! Thanks for the tip.

This has been that way ever since the Alan Wake specific bundle they put out years ago.

Interesting, thank you both.

MarkoH01: Yes and no. The things that are included in the CE on Steam are also included in the GOG version with one exception: the OST which afair never made it to GOG...
Thank you for a detailed answer. Personally I was most interested in developer commentaries, so it's good to know that these are included.

Yes, you can activate them inside the game. I installed the GOG version and checked it to be sure about that. You will see small (not subtitled) videos with the developers at certain points in the game. They are quite informative imo :)
This game did strike me as a missed opportunity.

The atmosphere (graphics, sound, artwork) is certainly top notch - the island cabin in the early game had a real 1970's feel to it. But the daylight sections are way too short compared to nighttime (maybe Alan's a bit of a night owl?) and it did seem that the game could have been so much better had these been expanded and given an adventure-game element, where Alan is trying to gather clues and information to figure out what's going on, before nightfall descends and he has to wave his flashlight around (this would have been different from the original game "survival horror" design in that you're collecting information rather than ammo).

A big thumbs-down to the product placement though. Seeing Microsoft Sync on Alice's car at the start of the game always had me wondering how they ever got to Bright Falls without a BSOD...

MarkoH01: ...I also contacted Remedy and asked if they could bring this additional bonus to GOG as well. Fingers crossed.
+1 to this, we really shouldn't be seeing a "cut rate" release on GOG. Compared to most other games though, it is pretty rich in extras.
