Okay, I just added all four games from the Dreamcast Collection (Crazy Taxi, SEGA Bass Fishing, Sonic Adventure DX, and Space Channel 5: Part 2).

Also, I was able to run Guardians of Middle Earth DRM-free as well, but since it's a multiplayer game, it didn't get past the part where it was updating multiplayer stuff, so I didn't add it to the list. I do find this interesting, however, because so far, there have been a ton of WB games that have run without Steam: Batman: Arkham Asylum, Scribblenauts Unlimited, the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection, and now Guardians of Middle Earth.

As a personal request, is anyone here who has the Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition (the PC version of the 2011 game) or Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition willing to try running them without Steam? I usually just rename the main Steam.exe, and if they still don't run, make a shortcut with -nosteam at the end of the Target field. If nothing runs, then they won't run without the client.

EDIT: Okay, so the Dreamcast Collection is NOT DRM-free; it's only Sonic Adventure DX. If you buy them ANYWHERE other than Steam, they are, in fact, DRM-free.

Grimm is DRM-free. Spicy Horse probably wasn't lying about losing the source code then.

Kick-aha: Yes, there is:

It's far from complete and maybe I missed a few (~2-3) games in this whole topic. Oh, the thing with the X-series is lacking.
Does your list cover DLC?

If we have information about it, it should be mentioned as remark to the game itself. I also noticed that DLCs from launcher free games do not necessarily work without starting the launcher, so caution is needed.
Maybe listing them as new entries is better? Dunno.

And if you want to improve/restructure the list, feel free, it's a wiki(a) page for good reason.
I don't know if it was already quoted, but ArmA Cold War Assault, ArmA, ArmA II and Operation Arrowhead can be run without Steam.
From the Bionic Dues website http://www.arcengames.com/w/index.php/bionic-features/

"Get The Game On Steam - 100% DRM Free!

Purchasing from our site or elsewhere gets you a Steam key for redemption inside the Steam Client. The Steam Client allow you to download and update the game. However, if you wish to take the game "on the go," or otherwise back it up for archival purposes, you can simply copy the game files out of your steam folder and they will remain fully functional even without Steam."

Havent tried it myself . Anyone else tried it?

I still haven't really played it other than a quick blast the other night when i was knackered. Might fire it up properly later on. Certainly looks decent enough.

MK Komplete doesn't run without the Steam client.

Aw, that sucks. Thanks for testing it. I figured it would be less of a shot in the dark than most Steam games.

Niggles:
It's really quite difficult to start - far more than the likes of SOTS: The Pit at least. Also rather enjoyable.

hope I get a chance to spend a proper few hours with it this week.
Don't know if it's been added, but wizardry 8 I found out is drm free.
Holy crap, anyone know if Ikaruga is DRM-free?
Leviathan Warships starts but asks for Steam anyway, so you can't play.

And ARMA 2 plays without a hitch, just click the exe.
