linuxvangog: The game passed our QA and we weren't able to reproduce said issue.
avatar
shmerl: Try running the game on current Debian testing, it will hang. Same will happen in Ubuntu eventually too (or will happen in Mint LMDE already now for instance).
Not sure what to tell you. From what I can see here, you can try addressing the issue by contacting either one or all of the involved parties:

1. Game developers
2. Wwise developers
3. SDL2 developers

There's really not much we can do here. GOG can only report this issue to the game publisher, however like I said before, it doesn't affect our supported systems yet.

I'll try that, hopefully they'll be responsive.

Interesting, thanks! Hopefully Debian will catch up on this.
Is CDPR/GOG trying hard to lose customers now?

I have to admit I don't understand twitter and can't figure out whether "Said nobody ever." was a response to "We can assure you: it‘s not us. We are the driving force behind 'add Linux support for GOG Galaxy' though." or to " hmmm playing Cyberpunk 2077 via GoG Galaxy on Linux..." or something else.

It seems to be mocking Linux user either way.

I also don't understand what the GoL twitter thread is supposed to show.

My guess they are diminishing Linux demand for Galaxy with their first response and outright telling "Cyberpunk 2077 will not be released on Linux" with their second.
The whole thing is very confusing, because Twitter threads are a total mess. I see this as joking conversation between GOG and CDPR where they poked each other about lacking Linux support:

https://twitter.com/GOGcom/status/1012727427854995456

CDPR: We can assure you: it‘s not us. We are the driving force behind 'add Linux support for GOG Galaxy' though.

GOG: We thought we heard giggles upstairs like we were hosting a sleepover. Or was that you guys gleefully building the Linux ready version of Cyberpunk?
Then some added that they want CP2077 on Linux with Galaxy, and I think CDPR answered that it will never happen (may be because of Galaxy, or may be because of CP2077 - hard to say).

They had some fun, but it highlights a problem within CDPR / GOG in regards to Linux in general. Linux is not a priority, especially for CDPR who reversed course completely, despite first treating Linux gaming as a worthy market, when it was way smaller than it is today.

GOL Tweet was a response to them, to show that there is demand for their games on Linux, and for Galaxy too.

It would appear so, yes.

I always was under impression CDPR never cared about Linux. The only "port" of their game ("Witcher 2") wasn't made by them and, AFAIK, was a desperate attempt at money grab when CDPR was out of funds (basically, an equivalent of "Divinity: Original Sin" for Linux). As soon as the crisis was over they quickly had forgotten about Linux.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'd definitely like to see some proof of benevolent CDPR's stance toward Linux.

CDPR cared enough for Marcin Iwiński to say, that they'd love to see their games on Linux.

linuxvangog: I am currently working with the team responsible for Windows installer to publish fragment of code that the community can use to unpack new installers. Eventually it won't be much different from what community came up with already.
Do you still roll out these crap installers? I just wanted to unpack one of todays updated games and got a mess... Is it really that hard to concatenate the file fragments BEFORE you create the installer instead of doing it on our side and writing twice the amount of data to our disks?

avatar
linuxvangog: One of the biggest issues reported is that in some cases, game updates distributed in offline installers are/were behind updates distributed by the Galaxy client, sometimes even lagging by a day or two. This might not be your priority, but we are now resolving this problem for everyone interested in being up-to-date when using offline builds.
The problem is when installers are behind by weeks or even months. I don't think anybody would mind the short delay which would be caused by concatenating the file parts on your side and then creating the installer. ;)

innoextract 1.7 handles the extraction of these new installers.

Oops, just realized we never announced innoextract 1.7 release in this thread before this post, while it has been available for a little less than a month…
