Points :

- Still won't feature James Bond, but Daniel Craig as the son of Rambo and Resident Evil's Nemesis, trying to be Jason Bourne in an xXx parody. Okay, that's what the public wants. Whatever.

- It will apparently focus a very touching emotionally heartbreaking family story about Not James Bond's childhood because drama and psychanalytical origin stories and daddy issues and, well, yeah, that's how it works now.

- I was always happy that the last dozen of Bond movies had pushed Spectre aside, because weekly will-get-you-next-time-muhaha villains are tedious. Turns out it was not a creative choice but a legal constrain. They reaquired the rights for Spectre now, so, the next film is called Spectre. And will feature Spectre (like, probably). That's fine, we still had all these Blofeld-less plots, I can do with a bit of Blofeld now.

- It features Christoph Waltz as the main baddie, and this will redeem the film absolutely no matter what, cause Christoph Waltz is super entertaining wherever he plays.

- It features Andrew 'Moriarty' Scott, which will make it even more entertaining.

- It will feature Lea Seydoux and Monica Belucci because it's been a long time they've ceased to care for even remotely interesting 'bond girls' (we've been inflicted Denise Richards and Sophie Marceau before, I guess we learnt to cope).

- Its trailer is the most boring Bond movie trailer ever.

- It's the first time I mildly look forward to a bond film since the Casino Royale disappointment. The fact that Skyfall (same ditrector and writers) was strangely watchable in its own weird way does play a role.

Seems more like a diss thread to me. :)
Andrew Scott was incredible as Moriarty in Sherlock. Unfortunately I haven't watched too many movies or series with Waltz but he did a solid job in Django.

I liked the Quantum plot in Casino Royale and Quantum Solace, the rest was filled with too much Jason Bourne stuff. I want Q, gadgets and spy stuff; not sneaky but surprisingly loud commandos with way too many cars, women and "Mine is bigger than yours"-moments.

You should watch 'Inglorious Basterds' the movie that introduced Christoph Waltz to the rest of the world. Still one of his best roles so far.

I had forgotten to add it to my wishlist at IMDB, thanks.
He's also fantastic in Polanski's "Carnage".

Also know as "the only good Bond movie ever".

Really? You didn't liked Skyfall, or Golden Eye? Hmm... maybe my 15 years old age is showing, but I thought those were pretty good.
I liked Daniel Craig's bond movies. What's with the hate, dude? :D

I hated Golden Eye, and Skyfall was a big disapointment. It was very predictable and felt like a rip-off of Dark Knight/Dark Knight Rises, but not nearly as good. It had a good cast, but it was wasted on a weak script.

I should clarify though, that I have not seen all the Bond movies, in fact I have not seen most of them, since what I did see until Casino Royale I did not like at all.

Bond = Connery, closest thing to the books. Craig comes next.

I also haven't seen all the Bond movies, just Golden Eye and Daniel's Craig movies, so maybe there were better when Sean Connery was Bond or Timothy Dalton, or any of those old Bond actors and maybe I'm biased, but I liked Skyfall, even if I know a lot of friends who didn't.

PS: I always thought that without Heath Ledger's performance that movie wouldn't be this successful as it is right now.

Have you actually read the novels ? You manage to imagine Craig in them ? Apart in the role of Oddjob, I mean ? Okay, or Grant ?

Not only I'm dubious about all these "closer to books" arguments (Dalton and Lazenby are very Fleming-compatible, actually, in fact only Moore blatantly stands out - not to mention that most novels were written during Connery's run), I don't think it's even an argument. The popular Bond archetype is defined by the movies much more than by the novels.

And that's why I regret, there aren't anymore "james bond" characters in movies, as popular discourses define the notion (the classy suave tuxedo spy with a silencer). In fact, it looks like Napoleon Solo (originally a james bond derivative) will closer to that figure, in the incoming Man from Uncle movie. That's quite ironical.

At least, Skyfall did try to go back to classic spying movies with spying stuff about spying, investigations, plots, etc, instead of the post-Goldeneye "commando action movie kaboom" trend. But it made the Craig caracterization stand even more out. Craig plays Bond like the main henchmen grunts of older movies. Heck, if Craig hadn't been available, I suspect they would have casted Richard Kiel instead.

But, anyway, Skyfall gave me a bit of hope for the franchise. It seemed to want to re-establish its tone a bit, and differenciate itself from gritty-bourne-clone-#1087. Let's see how it'll evolve.
