Hi GOG!

I was SUPER excited to see "Light No Fire" by Hello Games on Steam for wish listing (I HAD NO IDEA, wasnt even on my radar!), BIG fan of theirs. I have every intention of buying it here and won't be off my mind any time soon (its friggin HELLO GAMES!) but was wondering if we'd be able to wish list soon to at least show intent and interest?

No biggie if not, this is an insta purchase and for sure on this platform (I have an absurd amount of hours on that game, bought it preordered here, and I love how everyone else is a xbox controller or a mouse and keyboard and Im a floating ad for GOG hahahaha, love it).

Cheers to the staff of GOG games, you guys are just as awesome. You added Rebellion after only a few people asking and I will always love you for it.

Hmmm, the game's certainly interesting... but it seems to be a multiplayer centered experience this time around. Not that it's a bad idea (to be fair, I think No Man's Sky should have been multiplayer centered as well), but we'll have to see if they see Galaxy as a worthwhile platform.

Of course, to us Galaxy-free users the entire discussion is a non-issue, as we don't have a horse in the race. But I for one am not against multiplayer only experiences coming to GOG as long as they're not disguised under the mask of DRM-free, because let's be serious, they're not. If a developer pulls the plug on the game's server backend you're left with a pile of useless junk.

Maybe the whole DRM definition falls short here, but in essence "they will control the horizontal, they will control the vertical".

Honestly, this game sounds like almost everything I hate - online, multiplayer, survival, crafting, procedural generation to fill up a massive boring sandbox... bleh.

And if it ends up being online only, keep that crap on Steam.
The steam page only states that the game has single-player and on-line co-op modes.
Not much different than NMS, really. So maybe they manage to implement a decent single-player experience in the end.

A game which I'd really like to see here - "The Forest" - has a full single player mode, but every time I heard about it was because of the multi-player experience.

But it's too soon to talk about the game since it will only be out on 2025 or 2026. Who knows how the game will be like by that time. I, for one, am starting to be really pissed about multi-player gaming. It's becoming more and more clear how "online co-op" is ruining the industry on the long term.
I never use Galaxy and played No Man's Sky only offline, that was a great experience, so I'm quite confident for Light No Fire.

I'm not a huge fan of No Man's Sky... and I tend not to play MP games often... but this looks interesting. When I saw the rabbit people, I was sold.

I'm of the same opinion regarding co-op. The idea of waiting for players and then trusting them to stay the length of any given instance is a dubious model (always has been). I like a persistent MMO presence where everyone is going about their business. The minute you are reliant on another player (friend or stranger) it becomes a chore rather than a game. Anyways, thats my opinion regarding co-op. So to Breja, I don't disagree about the co-op but if you don't like survival then yeah, lol, steer clear of it. I can tell you this though, I've been playing games since Pong and I love all sorts of genres. Nothing has grabbed me like No Mans Sky.

In any case, thanks to Exhodos for the link, I added my vote.

@kai2, that peaked my interest too. Looks like there is some sort of badger as well :)

It's difficult to know if this would be a good fit for Gog with the lack of information about what kind of experience and requirements it will have, but it could be fun.
I want the exact opposite!

That is to say, I was hoping Light My Fire by The Doors would show up here.

Also love HG's work, but I've long been wondering if they might make a game like this.

I think it was during the first big Q&A for No Man's Sky, Sean was asked if his new procedural generation method could be used to create a smaller scale, typical "level" for a game. But better than other proc gen games.

Making it clear that this wasn't planned for NMS, he replied that was a really interesting idea and an idea he'd like to explore.

They've obviously gone much bigger in scale than a typical game level - a whole world - but I think this is that idea given life.

The tech and commercialization angles also interest me.

NMS has been out for 7 years and there's been so sign that anyone has successfully cracked HG's procedural generation technique. Starfield - which I enjoy - released with only 1000 worlds and no ship-to-ground flight. Obviously one or both parties not interested in any kind of deal and Bethesda unable to replicate the effect.

Fantasy is a much more popular genre though and survival games continue to be huge. Ultra basic Minecraft is still the best selling game ever and raking in massive revenues. Which can't last. At some point a better quality game with low enough system requirements to be playable on enough existing home PCs will topple it.

Light No Fire could be it.

And other fantasy developers would have to be salivating right now over the idea of using this tech in their games.
I sort of realized something was afoot when they introduced staffs and clothing, haha! In that sense I bet we are getting a peak at gameplay elements, I wouldn't be surprised if a new community mission introduces expanded melee (and I don't mind). You are so right regarding the engine @Khelonos. Remember too that they were able to adjust settings of the galaxies (from actual independent orbiting planets to planets in line to make flight quicker) pretty quickly based on feedback which tells me they are pretty intimate with what they created. I can only imagine how they will use that mind muscle on a single planet, I m already itching to explore what I saw.

On a sidenote it isn't just the engine itself, its what they have painted with it. I can and have walked around my blissful Trinity+ planet (blue sky, blue water, green grass, the + is the blue and black matching galaxy) just pausing and watching a sunset or sunrise, listen to the animals squabble, random traders flying over, then suddenly a giant worm.... add to that the sound effects and music and I am in game heaven.
