A quick glance over the forum didn't show another thread about this, so:

For a short period of time, HumbleBundle gives away LEGO-The Hobbit, if you subscibe to their newsletter.

I thought the movies were in Lego?
Oh, well - that sucks.
But on the other hand - here are a lot of users who have linked their HB account to Steam already - so for those this might still be interesting. :)

And thanks for doing that.
I didn't take the offer, so I wasn't aware of that catch, especially since they write on their site:

"No catch! The game is yours to keep and play forever. Just be sure to redeem your free game before the expiration time."

they should have noted that as well as having to subscribe to the newsletter.

Yeah. Well, you noticed the catch quick enough, so maybe they thought it wasn't necessary to give this info upfront.

Though I would be a little pissed, if I logged into my account, only to then find out that I only get the game, if I link my accounts (which I wouldn't do, not even for a free game).

Is this dangerous for some reason? Just asking because I'm clueless about this stuff.
The game's cool but not if linking might cause me trouble down the road.
This game is not free - it requires Steam. :(

dangerous? eh...
I do get a Skynet type vibes sometimes.
too much information sharing is more of a privacy concern for me.

It's free in the sense that you don't have to pay anything to get the game, not free in the sense that you have to have an internet connection and spend the time making a HB and Steam account if you don't already have those.
