real.geizterfahr: Try a Xbox One controller. The D-Pad on this one works perfect and the triggers (LT and RT) feel great. The only thing I didn't like from the start were the LB and RB shoulder buttons. They look and feel a bit cheap, but I got used to them after a while.
Yeah, I know that the Xbox One controller has an improved D-Pad but there is no wired option for it so my preference would be the Dual Shock 4 if I have to get a wireless controller. :)

tinyE: Actually I got one of those last month and hated it. It felt awful so I sent it back.

stg83: Apart from the D-pad its a pretty good controller IMO, what didn't you like about it specifically?
I just didn't like the feel and the analogue was for shit. The new Logitech I just ordered has an X-Box converter switch so I'm not too worried.

If there's no wired option... What the hell is this thing leeching on my controller there? oO

Support for a wired connection to PC was introduced a loooong time ago already ;) I bought one of the first wired Xbox One controllers for PC. It's the normal wireless controller with a mini USB/USB cable instead of a wireless connector.

I think its definitely a matter of being used to the controller since I have never really used a Logitech controller that much I became accustomed to the Xbox 360 wired. Anyway I hope the new controller works fine with all your games and is more convenient to use. :)

Oops...my mistake for not following up on the Xbox One controller for PC. Good to see there is a wired option, I might actually get one down the line when I build my next gaming rig. :)

tinyE: Win 7
Go install DirectX 9.0c as described here. Then see if the controller is set as the preferred device.
I have the same controller as you and it works well on all 6 games I've played. Have you tried re-installing the drivers?

EDIT: You could try exiting the game, then re-plugging the controller in making sure nothing's touching the gamepad if you haven't already.

Two weeks later I snagged a Logitech F310. Best controller I've ever had though the lack if weight (it not being a rumblepad) is taking a little getting used to. All around great feel and works on almost everything perfectly. Also not having to go though batteries every two days is nice. :D
