Currently in Beta this allows you to install and run games from the Epic Game Store without using the Client, this is a nice alternative especially for Linux as it installs the games and sets them up with WINE and handles authentication and DRM.

Currently it doesn't have a GUI but games can be manually added to Lutris and future plans are to allow other front ends such as Lutris to add Legendary into there projects.

Exceptions are online games that use anti-cheat systems that have issues with WINE won't run properly if at all.

Nice. I wonder if this could become the basis of a Galaxy plugin that doesn't just chainload the Epic launcher.

The fact that there is an alterantive community client for Epic has nothing to do with Epic themselves. So I don't see how GOG could learn from Epic here (which is still often DRM'd and when it is not it is not showing on the storepage - in opposite to GOG).
