This is a suprirse, for the longest time the Restored Content was only playable via modding for PC.

This is the first time we get to see the cut content restored in an official capacity.

So does this mean other places that offer KOTOR II might get this one day? Even GOG?

Well, kotor2 without the restored content mod more than a game is pretty much a weird mess so this might be very good.
Pretty sure the Steam version update includes the basic restored mod content? Not 100% sure but that's me memory of things. Weird we never got that update here.

The restored content on Steam is an externak mod. But it was available on the workshop directly. It fits so well and it is so streamlined that I understand the doubts about if it is included in the base game or not.
If they are going to release it later as free DLC (instead of an update), it'll likely just be a conversion of the mod and not any actual official effort.
I hope the modders get a cut. Or is this yet another case of a corporation profiting on others' work?
