Hi

I've seen the news about Metal gear series and Contra, Castlevania will be released here right now. I really wanted to play those but I couldn't find them.

Is those games region locked in South Korea?? I am living in South Korea(not NORTH).
the games here are 100% DRM Free. They don't require a client neither being in a delimited region. So no region locked ;)

Yes, they are region-locked in China, Japan and South Korea.

The games are not region locked, the store is.

You could ask around the forum if somebody would be willing to get/trade you a gift code, those can be redeemed anywhere and regardless of region locks.
Who cares, no client is required like you do for Steam. Just get a VPN, open a secondary GOG account, link your credit card to a virtual credit card (a service to protect your credit card, it's a real thing) and there you go, download games from other regions.

Hmmm i'd offer an alternate until they don't have it region locked... But can't send you a message, so meh...

May be a way around it. Though i heard steam if you bought the game it won't work unless you VPN to the same place you bought it from. So say i VPN in Russia, buy a game, then try to play it while using a US ip address, it will refuse to let me play or download it... Til i VPN again...

The games appear to be completely hidden for all SEA region countries. No news blurbs or images on the main page and game links redirect to the main store
Been thinking about this region locking and remembered that when these games were released outside of the Japanese/Asian market many of them received changes and alterations, some examples:

Castlevania III: Lost the extended soundtrack from the added chip as well as censoring.
Edit: After some research it turns out that Castlevania II also had a different soundtrack in the Japanese release since it was on the Famicom Disk System.

Many other games had features such as game saves (from being on the Famicom Disk system) and different names (In Japan Castlevania is Akumaju Dracula) and also had difficulty changes.

So would these games be blocked because they are not the versions that were originally released in there corresponding countries?

Again just speculating.

As far as I understand it, that can be circumvented by someone gifting it to you. That's how it worked at least for games like Postal for people in Germany. Maybe it's a similar situation?

Maybe for Steam, I don't know, but there's no check-up for GOG games, I can confirm that.
