I have tried to launch the game several times. When it tries to launch the game the launch bar is red and the game closes. I would be grateful if anyone could help. Thanks

Try the series subforum; there's likely a specialist there.

Failing that, you have a road of insanity ahead of you, as Mask of Eternity ran shaky at the best of times.

Make sure to yell at GOG's devteam for not parsing XML entries properly.

It's not officially supported by GOG on computers past Windows 7. https://www.gog.com/en/game/kings_quest_7_8 -> "Works On"

You might find some fan fixes though like by using Darvond's link.
