Melvinica: Again I'm happy to see that Gog also thinks about us forum users that don't use social media.
It's promo. Retweeting or posting on FB is "sharing" the stuff with the world - free advertising for GOG and the devs/pubs concerned.

Posting on the forums is not that - we're the same bunch of regulars all the time, we all know about the game, and anyone interested will have it already. No gain for GOG or a dev/pub.

The only thing forum contests would achieve is draw more people here to the forums. With all the trouble and outrage culture on the internet, and being critically undermanned, I'm not sure GOG will even want that. I something think GOG would rather have the bothersome forums die, looking enviously at Epic, who do just fine without... I mean the forum software from the bronze age is clearly an indication of the priorities - and more likely serves to scare new people off.

Pretty much.
And who can blame them - for all the negativity, hate and anger that is abundant all across the internet. This used to be a cozy place, where staff and users met at eye level. And then "success" happened.

Sachys: Discord IS a social media site.
As much as IRC servers are, perhaps.

I never had an "IRC profile", though I used it a lot back in the day... #quaker_ger ftw.
On IRC your nick is the most personal thing you expose.
Twatter and Faceplant can die in a fucking fire.

Some IRC servers let you fill out profiles, as much as you could on a BBS, anyway.

You learn something new every day... I never noticed that... and I used IRC until everyone had gone to ICQ and I was almost alone in my favourite channels.

Darvond: Well, look at me. Another social media hermit. My home is on Discord.

The last social media website I was a part of is now a dead service.
But isn't discord DRMed?
I used it some time ago, but after being unable to reinstall a game -a closed beta- from there after making some changes to my OS (due to some kind of intrinsec DRM in the app), I avoid it even more than social media...
A twitter giveaway that requires tagging someone means you do the marketing for free

SmollestLight: We know some of you are not particularly interested in our contest on Social Media, but just in case you would like to participate, here is a link to the Facebook post and Twitter post. Also - don't worry, in the future we plan to have more Forum Contests as well. =)

lazydog: Like the last one, controversially won by the below entry:-

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/win_a_rare_geforce_rtx_2080_ti_cyberpunk_2077_edition_graphics_card_eb5cc/post16816

no thanks.
At least that was a decent prize.

I still like my entry:

Although given CDProject just got hacked that claim might not be 100% accurate anymore.

Well, that's no longer relephant, the game store closed after that venture flopped.

Orkhepaj: Hey will the winners be announced publicly?

Hope yes, not like with Horizons Zero

"Selection of winners. The winner(s) will be selected by a panel of judges based on creativity, originality and the highest quality. The decision of the panel is final." :=
We don't announce them directly, but on facebook you can see who won since we commented on their posts. =)
