Voted. I somehow managed to forget about these two until now. I remember being disappointed by Manhunt back in the day, plus the 900 Mhz CPU I had back then wasn't strong enough to handle the physics, a problem so huge that I couldn't play past the (first?) magnet "puzzle". Anyway, my first impression was that the game had nothing going for it except the controversy. Two or three years later, after a hardware upgrade, I gave it another try and actually played through the entire thing. I was blown away by the game this time. It turned out to be a fantastic stealth game with a great scenario and absolutely intense atmosphere. I wholeheartedly recommend it to any fan of stealth games.

As for Manhunt 2... it's very average. The setting and story are as dull as they get. Don't remember much else about it, also didn't finish the entire game. Still, would give it another try.
Since the release of Windows 10 (and updates for 8.1 and 7) which nuked the disc versions of the games, it's a good time for GoG to pick them up, make some compatibility fixes and they will be a money printer machine! (especially the second one which can't be sold on Steam because they don't allow AO-rated games), sadly, Rockstar has the weirdest relase scheme on PC, so the chances of seeing them here are low :(

Agreed, the first one really starts to impress at some point through it. Maybe it's the non stop relentlessness of it.

I liked the second one just as much, very much enjoyed the Danny/Leo storyline, it added a lot to the first one and was probably even meaner. I only really stared to piece together what was happening over a few playthroughs, it's a bit sutble and quick to catch at times. You might find it a bit better if you gave it another shot sometime. The story was one of the things I most liked in the end.

The first Manhunt is a game best played in small doses. It's a look into the darker side of humanity, and deserves its place in gaming. It's cold, oppressive, hard and disturbing. The soundtrack is also brilliantly done, and the amount of voice work that went into it was really something special back when it was released.

I became very interested in the game, and it would eventually lead me to develop friendships on a forum discussing it, and now one of those friendships blossomed into my significant other. Funny how things work out, eh? Thanks Manhunt :P

Manhunt 2 on the other hand, was a game that should have been cancelled or put on the back burner. A really bad development cycle and a poor choice of console release led the game to being rushed and censored and you can tell. It's clunky, ugly, and just lacks the sadistic and dark charm of the first one. Loathed it. I put it in the same category as Duke Nukem Forever, 'never should have been...'

I actually found it to be far better in one single sitting - no sleep, no food.

...might go play it now actually.
Now you guys have got me all over excited. The deconstruction of inverted moral normality. The vortex downward spiral of doom. The dark abyssm.
I'd be all for the Manhunt games to be on here, especially the first game. They weren't great, 2 was a bit meh in some spots, but they have this disturbing and tense atmosphere that makes them compelling to play.

I enjoyed both of those games haha. It wasn't all that bad. PC version of Manhunt 2 was a lot better.
I noticed Manhunt was on sale on steam. I'm very interested in this game, and then I noticed it doesn't support windows7 and has glitches, and with no support from steam, my excitement and enthusiasm (along with the motivation to buy it) disappeared. Oh well, I didn't want to give them money anyway!
