Not in, but I will post anyway.

I play both the clearinet and the bassoon. Clarinet was what my mother wanted me to play, while I took up bassoon years later because I wanted to try something new, and it is common for groups to need bassoons.

I don't feel like posting a link, but a famous piece with a good bassoon part is The Sorcerer's Apprentice. (This work is featured on Disney's Fantasia and again in Fantasia 2000, but I don't think that's the best recording of that work.)

Falci: I don't live with my almost-three-year-old daughter, but I visit often. She's always providing new memorable times to remember, but there was this time when her mother asked her if I was to dress as a princess (or something similar) and she answered that "No, daddy is a boy". When her mother subsequently asked what I should dress as, she answered: "Hello Kitty!" :P
Even if you're a boy, why don't you try dressing as a princess and see what it's like? Maybe it would make a decent halloween costume.

Then, see how your daughter reacts to that outfit.

I have to say that I'm sorry for your loss, but at the same time I'm happy that your aunt passed away peacefully. That is a hidden blessing which many people forget to appreciate. I hope that choosing this way of commemorating her will help to bring you some solace. :)

I (used to) play the piano. Didn't really "choose" it, it was more of a family thing. 8 years of lessons, plus a few years since then. I don't play much now, but sometimes nostalgia hits me and I go on a playing spree.
I also used to have a melodica before that, but that was more like doing breathing exercises and playing with it than actually playing it. :D

As for the last part, I sometimes give extra lessons to my less talented classmates, but even though it supposedly helps them quite a bit, I don't think it really qualifies as "volunteering".

(I'm in, if possible.)
Not in and sorry for your loss.
First of all, I'm sorry for your loss.
Second of all, thank you for this generous giveaway. :)

I never learned to play an instrument, which I do not regret much, to be honest. I do like classical music though, so if I were to ever learn an instrument, I'd go for some kind of flute, I think.
In that vein, I have a memory of my father I am fond of. He was overall not a good dad and I haven't spoken to him in quite some time, but once we went to a city about two hours from where we lived, and enjoyed a concert together. He took his entire day to spend time solely with me, we had a lot of fun.
I do donate blood from time to time, and am a organ donor, but nothing besides that.

Do you have a healthy liver and kidney I could have, mine are shot?

Emachine9643: Memorable moment....

I really don't know my father from apart of a few memories but I remember one time I was about 6 years old. It was a perfect day, not too hot not too cold with blue skies. He took me to a construction site that has a lake in the back and we went fishing. It was my first time fishing. I didn't catch anything that day but he said that it was okay that I was learning and fishing is all about patience and self reflection. To me he seemed like a god, every time he threw the line in the water he caught a fish. Granted they were no bigger then the palm of your hand but still it never failed watching him throw the line and catching something. I don't remember what we talked but I remember he never stopped smiling at me and caressing my hair. I wish I grew up with him.

Anyways I'm in and if I win I wish for the money to goto a charity.
Totes fine. If you win, you pick the charity.

Crewdroog: She was a concert oboist (spelling?) and very philanthropic

1. If you play an instrument tell me what you play and why you chose that instrument. Also link a piece you particularly enjoy featuring instrument.
I played violin for many years (and cello for a little bit as well) and was in a couple local philharmonic orchestras. Not pro talent, mind; but good enough to have some fun and do fine nestled in the middle of the second violin section ^_^ Also made a few bucks here and there playing weddings and city hall openings in a quartet with a few friends.

There's a moment, just literally three or four seconds, in Bach's third Brandenburg Concerto, Allegro, where, in a huge orchestra, with all this brilliant layering that Bach did which defined the Baroque era, all of a sudden the violin soloist rises out of the sea of sound and it's like hearing a bird playing in a pond the size of a concert hall. Bach's probably my favorite music of all time anyway, but that moment gets me every time. Chills. Here's a link of a chamber orchestra playing the concerto, but for me, I love the sound of a full orchestral arrangement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLj_gMBqHX8

And...I have no idea how your sense of humor works, so maybe this is a swing and a miss, but have you heard of Bo Burnham? He does have a song with an oboe solo in it.

EDIT: Oops. Not in.

Breja: I'm sorry about your aunt. I know we haven't exactly always seen eye to eye (understatement of the year nomination here) but I know that losing a family member you are close to can really suck and for way longer then one might imagine. And it's extra nice of you make a giveaway here in her memory.

Oh- and I'm not in. Obviously, as I'm probably on "naughty list" anyway :D

EDIT: And don't get discouraged because of downvotes. Apparently there's been some grief about trolls downvoting giveaways recently. It's just trolls throwing a tantrum. Don't mind it and keep the GA going.

Crewdroog: you are not on the naughty list, please enter if you would like :) <3
edit: this got downvoted? meh. I saw what happened to farifox's GAs. If anything that would just make me what to do moar. they are just mad b/c they can't enter :)
Thanks, I appreciate it. However, I'm still not in- I need to deal with my backlog first, and besides I like Emachine's idea of the money going to charity too much and would feel bad to compete against that :)

And I don't think your post was low rated, I just mentioned it preemptively.

Actually, I just recalled, it wasn't a princess, it was a fairy costume in the conversation. Unfortunately, I don't think I'd look anywhere as cool as The Rock as a fairy. T_T
Hey Crew,

Really sorry to hear about your aunt :-(

I am here to offer you a piece of music that I tried to learn on the piano after only having lessons for a few months - I couldn't read music so I just listened to the recording over and over again (and drove my family insane in the process!). My older sister played intensively but she's gone now... sigh for loss of loved ones :-(

Anyway, here you go...

this is a huge favorite. my mom would play it all the time <3 thank you!
I am sorry for your loss.
May her soul rest in peace.

1. I used to play piano 12 years back but because of lack of practice I don't remember much of it.
Still someday I hope I will have a Piano and a Violin and I would be playing fur elise on them.

2. Sadly It's not some pleasant memory. My mother burned my hand when I was 4 with red hot iron because I was making paper planes.

3. I don't do it often but I do it whenever I get a chance.

I am in.
If I win I will be getting Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun.
1. I used to play keyboard, and did some rapping at school (remember messing up a song in front of 800 people haha)

But that's really it. haha

Right now I'm really into music between the 8th and 12th centuries. One of my fave bands is a norwegian folk group called Wardruna, and they do really well. They played a very big part in the "Vikings" TV series soundtrack.

https://youtu.be/-BYO3v8J2Lo?t=413

2. When I was younger I was always getting myself into heaps of trouble. I now know I have Asbergers Syndrome, but back then no one ever considered it. I remember being bullied frequently by staff and student on a regular basis, and I would always cry my eyes out after school. Mum never stopped supporting me, and because of her I'm doing very well. Just got my Diploma a few months back ^^ So for a happy moment, I'd say all of the times when I said to myself that I was worthless and she would tell me otherwise.

3. I would love to do some volunteer work. Soup Kitchen maybe. I'm happy to donate to those in need, but the problem is the cost of living here in Aus is much higher. So it's tricky. When I have spare change on me and I see someone on the street begging for money I'm perfectly fine with giving a few dollars. ^^

I'm really sorry to hear about your aunt :( It's a terrible thing to go through when you lose someone close.

Hope your okay! :D
My condolences, may your aunt rest in peace.

Not in. I have a million games, I don't think I need any more for the moment.
