It was a time this website was my reference of shopping, with the old library, the old games, it was an unique website where also buy indie- games and why not new games without DRM.

I believe that moving to Galaxy and re-adjusting GOG strategy was a very good thing in general, seeing it now with perspective I can fully understand it, but still I believe the old GOG is what I really wanted to make this place my place. Or one of my places.

I am not complaining, almost 800 games on my library here on GOG can tell that I am not unhappy with the website, but I feel the focus in the old GOG "good old games" is somewhat lost during the last couple of years. To be honest since Switch is released my interest for indie games moved to Nintendo, is full of them, and for AAA games I always preferred to play them on Xbox or PS4, if I also add that recently and for not sure which reasons, I been back to STEAM shopping, I am not exactly sure what is happening about my habit of buying here, it may be the things said or others, but is a fact that I buy less and less here, in old times, my favorite place by far.

I believe it is related to the lack of focus on get new good old games, I believe we got some, or still get some. But not as before. I wonder if my opinion is important anymore, maybe not. But I really wanted to share it with the team and the community.

Any criticism of my criticism is absolutely accepted.
Maybe the good old games are becoming scarce like hen's teeth and too hard to convert to be played on the pc of today.Sooner or later Gog will have no choice but to just stick with chasing new games as the old games will disappear as there is only a certain amount left out there that I think would be worth wasting time on.

Yep, scarce indeed. All IP owners have seen the ease at which the money rolls in for "Enhanced", "Remake" and such like and now horde them worse than an American Survivalist.
I expect all games on here to, at some point in the future, have their (price tag) enhanced version released, probably chopping the whole thing apart to make DLC's. Easy street.

I agree. There are plenty of good old games out there, but we also aren't going to get the devs (if they're still around) to agree. We're lucky we even got our hands on things like Dungeon Keeper and Parkan.

Yeah,DLC's is all they want to make. For instance......Okay chaps,we got a game to develop and remember DON'T add this and that and this and those as we can make a bundle with DLC's for those sections.....yuk yuk and watch the money roll in.

There are less available good old games to sell. Most of the publishers who wanted their good old games on this site probaly signed up a long time ago.

That's a link to Jmich's spreadsheet cataloguing all new releases at GOG. Looks like he has not updated it since 1 Feb this year. However...

In 2017 GOG released 76 games 10 years old or older. That's more than one per week.

For contrast, in 2010, GOG released only 36 games 10 years old or older. In 2014, it was only 41.

So, your impressions are inaccurate.

one way to look at it is, you got in while the gettin was good. 800 titles, there may be a day when people are wishing they had gotten all they could off gog back in the good old days. i believe the whole focus of gog has changed this past year with the move, they are definitely more focused on increasing income thru heavy marketing/promos and other tactics. cant blame them really, its their livelihood. I believe they are experiencing growth and trying to hang onto their original outlook as best as they can but it wont work, too many new people, too much depending on the financial aspect. gog will change, whether it will be the primary go to site for games is something each of us has to determine.

*shrugs

remember, gog took a market slice off of other stores because those stores werent filling those customers needs. same thing will happen to them in time as new stores open up and want a slice

plus, as others have said, the golden time of getting access to games to offer is over, its a new market, those devs still alive are now aware that there is new money to be made off their ancient titles more or less starting a bidding war

im glad of my time with gog, i have a shit ton of games now that i will never ever play, but they are mine mine m.i.n.e

*whispers... my preciousssssssssss

haha so true.

Yes I totally understand their movement to a broader audience, but I still waiting, not sure if hopeless, for many old titles that should be here. The wishlist for this looks now like a Dinosaur from old times. :(

Besides, every day each newish game moves 24 hours closer to becoming a potential classic.
