Hi. I've been using GOG Galaxy for a while. Never had any issues. I've happily played through new and old games. I currently still have Morrowind and Fallout New Vegas installed and ready to go in the launcher.

The issue is that my Galaxy has just been refusing to download. Whenever I try to download a game, it either just enters a blank loading screen for an eternity (So far I've tested it for 4 hours) or it will just say; "Server issues" and cancel the download. It doesn't say who's server, or how long it will take to fix, just "Server issues".

I've done a bit of searching online, and it's possible to download offline variants of the games, so I went to do that (The game is Spore in case curious). The first file in the Spore collection immediately says it requires a .bin file to already be installed on my computer. Part 1 of 3 requires a file already be installed.

I've seen several posts from people saying they have the same issue, and the solution is usually to download the manual installer. That's not fixing the problem. That's a workaround. Even if it was, I physically can't download the manual install because it required a file. How do I get Galaxy actually working like it has has absolutely no issue working for the past 2 years? If it won't work, where would I go about requesting a refund on products I haven't used yet so I can close the account and use a distributor that can do their job?

Edit: (I have restarted my computer, force closed the program, searched for updates, checked my network status and have done pretty much everything I can think of)

The galaxy client is the problem. You don't need it to access your games, so uninstall it and things will work better.

Go to your account and simply download the normal game installers files - ignore the blue galaxy client banner.
Hello,

You should open a support ticket.

When the game size exceeds 4 GB, the installer files are split into 4 GB parts. You need to download all parts. You can't just download the .exe setup file and expect it to install the game without having the .bin files, which actually contain the game data.
If you did download all parts, and you're getting that error message anyway, compare the file names and file sizes with the ones listed in your account. If the download gets cut off, the file size will be smaller, and the file name may differ as well (like having .part or .crdownload stuck onto the end).

You can request a refund for games purchased in the last 30 days. Whether you played the game in question or not usually doesn't matter (unless it looks like you played it in full and just didn't like it).
Go to your order history. You'll see an "Ask for a refund" link below each title that can still be refunded.

If you have access to a different Internet connection, that would be a useful troubleshooting step. For example, disable your regular connection and connect to your phone that's set up as a mobile hotspot.

Hey, sorry if I wasn't clear when I was complaining about the way the files are formatted. My issue isn't with the .bin files or how they work, my issue is that part 1, 2 and 3 should be the bin files, and the installer should be the final part, because it requires the other parts to function. That's just how chronology, dependencies and common sense works. It was a petty complaint, I openly admit.

I've just uninstalled Galaxy and I won't be using it in future. This problem has persisted for many users since 2019 from what I can tell, and the forum is full of posts like mine. Whoever made the program either doesn't know what's wrong with it or doesn't care to fix it, neither is good when your bottom line depends on it. Given the choice in future, I will definitely be looking for products on Epic, Steam, Humble or literally any other platform, because they actually work, and the people who make them care enough to keep them working because that's literally their entire job.

I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question in such detail, and PLEASE do not assume that I'm angry at you personally, but if I pay a carpenter to make a fence and it doesn't open, I'm going to be pissed. The fact that the fence will open if I lift it up, stand on one foot, do a spin and pat my head does NOT make me any less angry.

I don't know why you'd bring up other users, when you said in your original post that GOG Galaxy had been working without issue for you in the past 2 years.

You're free to shop wherever you please, but you need to open a support ticket if you want GOG staff to look into the problem.

Please don't use the term "Many Users" without providing proof, I have never had an issue with Galaxy myself but that doesn't mean I can say "Many users" have been having no issues.

As Ice_mage stated be sure you put in a support ticket so GOG can look into this issue you are having as just complaining here won't get anything done as it's mostly moderators and pr people who frequent the forums and they will just say the same thing, to create a support ticket so they can help you properly.

MeesterFunsocks: The first file in the Spore collection immediately says it requires a .bin file to already be installed on my computer.
Part 1 of 3 requires a file already be installed.
If I understand you right, you downloaded the first file (.exe), and double clicked that, right after it was downloaded?
But at that time you hadn't downloaded the two (.bin) files, yet.
Am I right?
And then the (.exe) "complained" about needing the two (.bin) files missing.

Simple solution to that:
1) download ALL the files
2) AFTER ALL the files are successfully downloaded, doubleclick the (.exe) file
3) follow the instructions/choose a language for the installatio process, a place for the installation, etc
4) after the installation is done - have fun!
Considered using the older v1.2(?) version, disabling updates and just using that until it doesn't work any more?
It's a simpler client no-doubt, but others have done this and are seemingly satisfied with it.
