l0rdtr3k: I would also recommend you buy Conan(written by Robert E. Howard) and Dune.

darthspudius: im going to be that odd fellow who'll recommend Lovecraft :P
I find Lovecraft over-exposed and overrated because everyone on the internet constantly mentions him and how scary his Cthulu Mythos is. I find "reading" a scary story a poor method of showcases scariness. Scary moments is all about showing not telling.

Same with George Orwell in every political discussion on the internet. (Government spying on people's twitter and phone calls is not the same as what 1984 showed)

The Cthulhu mythos are great and scary IMO because on how the Great Old Ones are always a symbol of insanity.
George Orwell because of his satire. Animal Farm is a great allusion to the Soviet Revolution with a pretty great film.

l0rdtr3k: BTW darth, the Nemesis system was one of the best things about the game along with excelent VA,graphics, soundtrack and the story was very good.
avatar
darthspudius: It was all a very well made game. Needs more praise if you ask me. A lot of games could learn from it.
I agree with both of you, and yes Nemesis system was extremely good, it made me playing for hours just to create my perfect pets up to high ranks. But story? Huh? Random pages with ton of text, I remember very beautiful high elf in white clothes, can't say his name out of possible spoiler accusations ;)), - what of that story you find that fascinating?

Well its not my fault I think its overrated because of the internet. Moviebob uses Lovecraft references in 2 of his reviews.

As if Lovecraft is the be all, end all of horror like as if you point to someone and say "thats how you do horror"

the lack of it. Little sections here n there but nothing too vast n heavy . :P
I would qualify Lovecraft's short fictions as more "creepy" than "scary". The scare factor in his work has been mostly lost in the past century, but the creepiness is still strong.

Very very big chance, or should I say fat chance it's coming to GOG ;)

Have you read Shadow over Innsmouth? Great cosmic horror story and shows how scary the Cthulhu Mythos can be.

I'm a big fan of the old "Revenge story" and I found Talion to be a good character and I loved the scale of the story.
Yeah Lovecraft is all creepy vibes and weirdness rather than scary. Takes a lot from Poe in influence. I haven't read Shadow Over Innsmouth yet. I have his complete works to go through and I haven't been back to the book in a while.

I have a "Best of Poe" book here with the Henry Clarke illustrations. Poe is also one of my favourite Horror-Mystery writers.

For the sake of collection, I bought this one. It is such a nice book series!

Bought this one for about €9 ($10/£6.6). It's a shame that they don't offer a complete collection in Greek and instead prefer to sell his stories separately for inflated prices.

I bought the book from here in this price. The problem (well, not for me at any rate) is that there isn't a translated Greek version of the Complete works; maybe a partial compilation or yet another rerelease of the Raven or bits and pieces from here and there.
