GOG used to sell older titles that were really good... But is it now just a steam clone? I don't see any storefront for classic games, just a bunch of newer titles that I've learned to be very careful of because the quality of newer games is often much lower.

If gog actually got rid of their old games it is really sad...
Older games are still here and normally we see classic releases every Friday. Last Week we got some of the classic Metal Gear games (including the original MSX Metal Gear) and the week before that we got 7 classic games which included Return of the Phantom.
GOG's filtering options aren't great, but you could choose "Browse All Games" (or your preferred genre), then sort the results by "Oldest first".

Silent Hill 4 just released yesterday. Still getting classics all the time.

Sorting by oldest first.

Just change OS, Genre, etc, you want.
How do you guys know about these releases? I am glad that they still do older releases but they need to have a storefront for it i think. I don't just want to see the oldest game available in a category but some sorting options for like pre 2008 games loi
They normally advertise releases on the main page (admit-tingly news post are a bit hard to find as they are on the bottom of the main page).

For pre-2010 I'm using

Ah, so that's where they are. I always wondered where people found the news and promo links from.
I usually stay away from the front-page since it's cluttered and loads slowly.
Only exception is when you have to go there for a free game giveaway.
For more advanced filtering, you can use mrkgnao's MaGog Search Engine. It has way better options than what GOG offers here.

An elegant retro section with historical data, reviews and articles would be very interesting and attractive. Why not.
