It happened to me few times that I accidentally clicked either the + or - sign on a post. Can I cancel the rating in any way? Clicking the same sign doesn't do anything and the only thing you can do is either change your vote from - to + or from + to -.

It is just slightly annoying when this happens and there is no way out. I don't want to downrep a post because I misclicked, but I also don't want to give it a positive vote if I don't want to...

Simply letting us click the same button again to remove the vote would be nice.

No way to do it. It's not a big deal to most, but you can wishlist the feature.

Why do you click on any of these buttons in the first place, if you don't want to click either (+) or (-) anyway?
I mean it's not as if the chance of clicking on any of these buttons by pure accident is very high.

Indeed, mostly on a phone and also touchpad (like stopping the cursor right on one of the buttons and when you put your fingers on the pad, it registers a click first before moving).

Of course this would never happen on a precision control device like a mouse :P.

Ah, I see... ;)
Edit: though, after trying it out on my tablet (= touchscreen), I have to say: the risk of hitting these two buttons accidentally on touchscreens is equally low as by using a mouse on PC.
And it might practically only happen, if you're about to click on one of the two buttons anyway.
The "reply" button (= the only other button nearby) is so far away, that hitting another button by accident doesn't seem plausible...unless you're suffering from Parkinson's.
In my humble opinion.
