yes its possible with a hyperviser between your system and the game... protects you more than helps run the game

games that don't need Gpu are easy to get working in Hyper-v [Microsoft owns this and its free for people on pro accounts of Windows i.e, not home]... you can also download\ run it on some old system for free as a stand alone but that gets more complex to set up then most average users

for games that do need a gpu or still running on old Window Xp or 7 eaer hardware then VmWare workstation is your best option... I still have one for my backup copy of Star Trek Birth of the Federation

I feel so computer illiterate now, when I remember that young me used to use boot discs and write batch files allocating memory, just to get a shitty looking pixel game to play.

Thanks for bringing back those memories with this thread! Seriously, I don't even think I remember half the stuff I could do in DosBox 10 year ago.

Now I just install stuff and it runs. Strange lazy times hehe! I'm sure most people don't even realize when they click on a picture box thingie icon on their phones it's even "installing"!!!

I still have a mouse driver which was loaded in DOS, can you imagine not having a mouse?

jonridan: Well, this technically is a Windows 3.x game:

https://ski.ihoc.net

Ski Free is the only one I know that can "officially" be played in modern OS.
Isn't this the game where the abominable snowman attacks you and it's impossible to avoid him?

Yes. It's similar to the game you get in Edge when you have no internet (which I've had as a waterski game and a ski game, depending on time of year).

Hi, I have Windows 2.3.9. Can I still play? Thanks.

nightcraw1er.488: Nice link, didn’t know of that one. Thanks.
You're welcome :). You probably did - it's a fork of PCem, I believe it used to be called PCem Experimental or something of the sort.
You can start Windows up to version 3.2 in DOSBox (for most people Windows 3.11 is the latest DOS based version, as 3.2 was a special version for China). DOSBox is available for almost all operating systems and platforms, including Android (tablets and smartphones). And as soon as you get Windows running inside DOSBox, you can play Windows games of that era on it as well...
