TLDR: does GOG provide a way for users to filter out ads for specific genres or subgenres of games on its home page?

Recently (within the past two years or so) it has come to my attention that GOG has started to offer a number of games that I personally find distasteful (I deactivated/deleted my steam account after steam had been inundated with games of this sort.) It seems like the easiest way to address this problem would be to allow users to customize their own view of the GOG home page (to choose which if any ads they are exposed to) and ideally to implement something like a spam filter to help users avoid exposing themselves to unwelcome or offensive (e.g. sexist, degrading, objectifying) content.

Oh, I guess you are new to the forums.

Let me sum up this thread...

- It is just make-believe rape.

- I know of a female sex therapist who advises their clients to play rape games because of their therapeutically effect. She says that woman want to be raped.

- You lousy puritan. World is so pathetic because of you trying to censor everybody.

- You should feel ashamed for thinking this is offensive. All Japanese indie games developers make rape porn games.

There are two possible reasons why we can't have porn filter (even though Steam has them):

1. GoG was infiltrated by pro rape propagandists and wants to push rape porn to all their customers.

2. GoG is failing and less and less developers are interested to publish on this platform so they are scraping the bottom of the barrel with this garbage desperately trying to stay afloat. This would also explain the lack of resources that are needed to implement porn filter functionality on store page. We might be witnessing a company pivoting to become a porn game store.

If you don’t like exposing yourself to unwelcome or offensive content, best unplug your internet cable. No doubt however GOG will spend all of their tiny resource pool on trying to implement filters and tags for people however as that seems to be the popular thing nowadays.

I'm wondering how many publishers are either not putting games here, or are putting them here but only putting Steam links in their adverts so that their adverts don't lead users to the unfiltered home page.

Support for filters seems to be about the only point of agreement. You missed this quote, from the same user as your other quotes:

- I'm in favor of the content filters and yes, maybe automatic may be the best solution like Steam and MangaGamer.

Seconded. Just to be clear, I'm not advocating for censorship of any kind whatsoever; I'm merely floating the idea that giving customers the option to share ad preferences (and/or non-preferences) could potentially boost sales, and would almost certainly make shopping on GoG more enjoyable, more relevant, and (I can only hope) more informative for everyone here, anthropologists and psychologists included.

It's currently only possible to filter out certain tags from the catalog listing. Search for the tag in question, hover the mouse over it, then click the eye icon on the right. Like all other filters, your preference is not remembered the next time you browse the store. You can bookmark the page to make the filter stick.

Data grid view for gog.com store page lets you blacklist specific titles and genres, if you don't mind running user scripts on the site.

There are a number of community wishlist entries about this.
Adult Games Filter and seperate section, please.

funny thing is... steam does offer a user-friendly way to disable ads for genre's and or certain tags, such as nudity or violence.

You might want to consider giving steam a 2d chance since..... it seems here on GoG those games are offered a place in the spotlights on a regular base.
