Atreyu666: I need Galaxy. Not for any DRM, achievement or multiplayer stuff because I don't give a crap about that. But once you have over 300 games installed on your PC, you need a way to manage them all and not lose your overview. And don't tell me to arrange 300+ icons on my desktop, it would drive me flatout INSANE.
I just have a folder on the desktop with shortcuts to (currently) 484 games + shortcuts to a couple of games I'm currently playing next to it. Have not yet been driven insane*.

Atreyu666: Wait! Galaxy has a gamepad mode? Or are you talking about your mobile device?
No, I was talking about playnite. Sorry for the confusion.
And yes, I am talking about my handheld, where that really makes it more comfortable to navigate.
I don't want to force Galaxy or any other client to anyone (Itch has one too^^), I'm just saying that Galaxy to me is a great way to not lose overview over my games. It works for me personally. But it's also great to know that Galaxy IS optional and the games are still DRM-free and can also be started just by a desktop item.
A desktop folder structure would also be my option should they ever drop Galaxy :)

Atreyu666: And don't tell me to arrange 300+ icons on my desktop, it would drive me flatout INSANE. So in Galaxy I can sort and group my games the way I want. Lutris on Linux has a similar concept but doesn't go all the way Galaxy goes
I've been doing that years with Open Shell (the only sane way of using W10-11 Start Menu in general), ie, I've had hundreds of games installed organized into sub-menu's (sub-folders) by Genre (FPS, Adventure, Strategy, Racing, etc) or grouping same types (DOS / ScummVM / GZDoom, etc, games together) under one "Games" root folder with nothing on the desktop at all. It looks pretty nice, especially with the "Smoked Glass" theme.

Atreyu666: I also like time tracking, it's just interesting to know how much I played which game. Not a necessity, but nice to have anyway.
I'm sure people new to gaming like it, but I never did see the point of counting only a small fraction of gameplay for decades old games. Galaxy : "You have 0 minutes played of Doom (1993)". Me after 1,500+ hours gameplay of which the first play-through took place 22 years before Galaxy was invented : "Clearly not..." I'm sure I'm not alone in having my whole GOG / Galaxy profile disabled because I'd rather see no numbers for old games than fake ones (and there are morons out there especially over on the Steam forums who actually judge other people based on these numbers).

From the Italian for "with Venice"?

Eh, that word seems to trip up lots of people. There's a grocery store in my town that had a sign up inside that featured a misspelling of "convenience". It remained unfixed for years. (It might still be there, for all I pay attention.)

Since I rarely play old games, I don't really have that problem. Most of what I play are newer indie games and other games I've never played before.
It was funny, I've finished both "Guns, Gore & Cannoli" games not even looking at the timer. When I finished the second game I looked and both games were -exactly- on 3h 38 min :D
I like Galaxy as a tool to organize and keep track of all my games across the various platforms and services with pretty pictures and minimal effort.

I don't generally use it as a launcher though. ;)

I also prefer to download my games from the website.

Well .. most of them :)
There are games like Cyberpunk that only offer the full content when started from Galaxy.
While it can be played offline, some stuff will be missing (preorder bonuses and so on).

That begs a few questions.

1. Why do you have so many games installed at one time?
2. Surely it would be better to only have a few, and then install others as you need to, from one of your Offline Installer backup drives?
3. How many incomplete games do you have installed?
4. Do you uninstall a game once completed?

Backup drives can be structured to make things real easy.

1. Each game has its own folder, and a JPG image of the game cover, named Folder.jpg, so that when you have the folder view set to Large Icons or Extra Large Icons, you get a lovely preview.

2. You can make things even less cluttered, quicker to display, by putting each game folder inside an alphanumeric folder based on the first letter of the game title.

i.e. D:\GAMES\Q\Quake

Timboli: 1. Why do you have so many games installed at one time?
If told you "I like white chocolate" (which is true), would you ask me why? I just like having many games installed to choose from. Basically I like to try out new things, I almost never finish a game. It's my decision and I'm totally fine with it ;)

Well, it started with only a few. I install a new game and most times I like it much but I also want to try out something new. So I keep the old game installed to play it some other time and well... that's the loop I'm in. But I don't see a problem in that.

Timboli: 3. How many incomplete games do you have installed?
Does that matter?

Timboli: 4. Do you uninstall a game once completed?
Most of the time, yes.

Do you mean backup drives for installers? All my OL installers are on my NAS and I already have a useful folder structure. My installed games are on my D:, E: and F: drives, always in the respective \GAMES\ folder.

Everyone has his own way to collect (or not) and you can't push your own methods and behaviour on others. You enjoy your games your way, let me enjoy my games my way. It's really that simple. Galaxy is a great helper and it's there so why wouldn't I use it? In case it gets stomped I will find another way (or launcher) that fits my needs.
