I know that news posts are on the main page, but with the new layout the news is always at the bottom off the page and the news is main part of the site I always like to read first. Is there a quick link to the most recent or archived news that I can bookmark?

For news you can use an RSS feed:
https://www.gog.com/frontpage/rss

With a little bit of tinkering and using user written scripts, you can change front page a bit, so news will not be at the bottom:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/simple_code_snippets_for_the_new_site_design

You can also just see what's new (without news) using store page sorted by date added:
https://www.gog.com/games?page=1&sort=date&tab=new

You could always use the RSS feed (www.gog.com/frontpage/rss) with a proper RSS client that saves older entries according to your preferences.
