Of course they are equal. I never understood how some people on earth can think differently. What we need are more homosexual heroes/heroines in books/comics/movies/games. People aren't bold enough to dare it often enough.

I would enjoy that, though I think several posters here at GOG wouldn't be so thrilled. lol

I am bumping this, because I have been thinking - only from time to time of course - these four years if the third game might have moved forward.
Mancubs are fine gamers, and so are Girlcubs; and Gaycubs of either persuasion.
I do not think Detmold had to pop those pimples or rape a slave; and while he is not a real life character - he was written by someone who was or some whom were.
This was four years. I was quite devastated by some outright nasty opinions back then - I thought gamers were nice`in general, and happy for others to love gaming.
Anyone upgraded their opinions, since then?

I only came across this thread today while searching for a completely different topic. Although it might make you worry that a lot of gamers are insensitive to how gay people are portrayed, I have to wonder how many of them were simply young people who, by their nature, were not yet mature enough not to resent someone asking them to evaluate their favorite games more critically.
And while The Witcher 2 troubled you, I think TStael, DarkZephyr and company can take heart overall. Appeals to "Biblical truth", straw man arguments, and accusing gay advocates of political correctness didn't win this thread, and they are likewise losing in "real life" to love, reason, and humor. Games, the folks who play them (inc. gaymers!), and society overall have quickly become more diverse and gay-friendly--even more so since you started this thread in 2011. It's going to get harder for global game companies not to reflect that in their products.

Anyone here applied for a job with IKEA, and got a superbly cheesy message outside CH? "I almost cry tears over rejecting you, but really, really, I had to, because it is my job as HR automatic filter" and all that... ;-)
I reply to this, besides enjoying the above post as per my Finnish sense of humour to point out:
a
- I am an agnostic at best, and an atheist at worst, but nonetheless I admire Jesus (of Nazareth or Christ, take yer pick, eh).
So quoting "biblical truths" even as an automated troll unto an actual, personal and strongly felt criticism about TW2 - which was an act of love for gaming - bothers me, as it might amuse me. And also I think you do sell Jesus sort.
Dethmold did not have to be a hit parade of negative gay clichés to be an impressive bad gay: pimple popping, anyone? And did the feller in his comeuppance scene have to be a rape victim, and not a lover? CD Project Red evolved and found its success in a country strongly homophobic - so when we put this in topical context, would it not have been more cool handed to go against the tide, eh? ;-)
And as to Jesus - there is not a single attributed view on homosexuality. However, you might know he brought forth parable of Good Samaritan, and moral challenge of Throwing the First Stone (the adulterous woman). I cannot say I admire u quoting anything "biblical."
What think u - are trolls like these intended to make some persons look like morons? Or why on earth are they there??? I see no commercial opportunity... So why??
And yuup, I still think Dethmold was a bad, and in balance of probabilities, homophobic call on part on CD Project RED. :-)

People really do need to grasp the fundamental difference between characters in a story and the author's own politics. Sometimes fucked up shit looks like fucked up shit and makes you think "shit, that's fucked up" precisely because the author is trying to provoke that reaction in people - that these things are unacceptable. Either that or it's in there simply because it's true of the period and / or environment being depicted.
This is a particularly common misconception in literature. The problem with sheer volume of young adult novels out there right now that are little more than the author's power fantasies (or a soulless attempt to appeal to the power fantasies of their target audience) is that people seem to have grown up under the impression that all novels are like this. To a lesser extent this misconception seems to apply to film and games, as the case is here.
Oh wait. Necro. Totally missed that until it's too late.

Um, you should probably be aware that you're being offensive toward someone who's agreeing with you.
And if you still think CDPR is homophobic, I wonder how you can maintain that belief after Witcher 3 included positive homosexual characters. It really seems like nothing more than inventing bad guys to fight against for the sake of sanctimony.

I would rather that someone disagreed with my values cum opinions; as long as I think this be genuine opinion. I do not shift my views very easily but it has happed (Steam...) - but being persuaded and disagreeing with someone who is sincere is quite ok.
Meanwhile, I love gaming - and exactly therefore have never been able to replay TW2 after observing "the faggot Dethmold" "eat hid balls,"
So unkindly it is stated in youtube, give or take.
I know because I felt so bad of the original discussion, I felt I had to ask a dear friend if I was a prig about the pimple popping and genitalia mutilation and throat cutting:
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/is_the_witcher_2_anti_gay
She thought I was alright that I could not take it, and that the Dethmold genitalia cutting was not very amiable.
And be TW3 "nice-'y'" - I should be pleased if it were because not all of us liked the pokemon attitude to women in the first game; nor the Dethmold business in the next. I hope it could be because a lot of gamers like inclusiveness - but also, u just might be shitting it.
Cannot comment on TW3 as I am boycotting it because of the characterization of Dethmold in TW2¨.
And based on reviews (@gg activists - independent, think u? I have never seen TW2 commercial evaluation bother about Dethmold "faggot eat dick" btw:-)) it never seemed to mater.
