Or is this one of the most boring games ever made?

How I have tried to play this thing and like it.
How I have tried.

I was hoping for a 3D space fighter/empire building game and ..
What I got was a nap inducing sim.

I have seen walking simulators more entertaining.

Ever time I try to boot up this game to give it a try my head starts throbbing and
I return more action based games like Aurora 4x or Dwarf Fortress.

It reminds me of some free to play Asian grind mmorpg with item shop.

Before this game I thought one of the worst was grinding out on Final Fantasy X for the ps2
Just to beat the final boss.

How about a game where you have to grind just to go start to play the grind game?

It is just you, because X3 is a 3D space fighter/empire building game.
I don't mind grinding, your gaining more dark power to crush your foes with.

bad_fur_day1: I don't mind grinding,
Neither do but that's a whole other kind of grinding.

omega64: Final Fantasy XIII?
spot on ^^ i really regret buying all 3 of them at once :[ - as i''m still stuck like in the "beginning" (dunno 15 hours maybe?) of the first game but it already felt so repetitive and grindy and then i read what will come at later stages and i never touched it since

It's one of the most complex games ever made if you ask me.

It does have a slow start, I'll give you that, but at a certain point, after you build your economy, it starts paying off.

If you want something more exciting try X3: Albion Prelude - it has Stock Markets which can boost your finances rather spectacularly with the right kind of speculation.

What you do with that money is your choice. You want to buy 10 heavy fighters and raid around the universe? No problem.
X3 one of the best games in its genre.
I suggest you check the Egosoft forum. There is so much useful information there. You should also look into the abundance of scripts available to increase your quality of life. Putting SETA on x10 is also vital - there might be a script to make it even faster!

My best tip would be to fly a Mercury to Heron's Nebula, buy Space Fuel from the distillery and sell to the local trading station. You'll be making huge profits, building massive production complexes and managing a trading empire in no time :)

s_a: X3 one of the best games in its genre.
And has one of the coolest devs around.
(the x3 devs = x: rebirth devs, right? :P)

The twitch steam by the egg dude was supreme. Watched every bit of it, and I still don't know how I managed to do it (busy, always busy ;P)

The second is supposedly better, I guess you could try it if you already own it anyway.
I always heard the X games where really hard and ultra ultra complex which is why I avoided the sale. Shit, if slow is the problem then I should have bought them. Playing SOTE right now and after that I could use some slow. :P
Simulations can certainly feel boring even if the X3 games have lots of simplifications like a very arcadish flight model. Maybe Freelancer or Freespace 2 more to your liking? Maybe other goals in game?
no it's not you.

these fucking games.

worst

hump

ever.

like where do I get the shit?

who tells me where I get the shit?

where is the shit?

how do I fight anything?

they sent me on a mission and I can't fight anything with what I have.

fine.

so I go do some shit to get better gear. I play these games I understand that.

but I can't.

most I just can't even get near to doing yet. the rest of it I still can't do.

cause I need shit I don't have and don't know where to go to get because nobody tells me where it is.

I could look around.

BUT LOOKING AROUND TAKES FOREVER.

that's these games in a nutshell.

they take forever.

play Rebel Galaxy.

edit: that's a bit too harsh on em'. you could try the older games, and then move to X3 once you're experienced. but really, I think X3's hump is just unforgivable. you'll hear a lot of people say something along the lines of "X3 is great, it just asks a lot of the player.". but that's going too far IMO, the game is just boring for a good long time. and I say this as somebody who trades mostly in space trading games.
