What have they done to you? :o)

Faenrir: You say i should refrain from replying to posts i didn't read, but you don't seem to have read mine. I said i stopped reading after you spewed that nonsense about cars handling.
"The car handling is in my opinion perfect."
Yeah, such nonsense.

They influence badly gaming on pc... But to be precice...

1) I hate console ports to pc, especially if they are bad ports.
2) Same title, same game, be given priority to consoles first, pc after...
3) Games that are consolized, even if they have a pc release and said game on pc suffers from consolization, too. Thief deadly shadows was heavily criticized for being oversimplified and overconsolized, ruined from console limitations that plagued even the pc version of it (very small levels, badly made, loading time and screens, etc).
4) Gamepad. I hate that infernal thing. My keyboard and mouse, or nothing, thanks a lot. Only instance i bought a gamepad, was for my Sega Saturn emulator and the Japanese Castlevania Symphony of the Night on it, i have never used it anywhere else.
5) Very good games, like Dante 's Inferno, which never see a pc release when they should.
6) Games like the one this thread discusses, which comes to pc after an entire year.
7) And stuff...
In order of preference:
GTA: VCity
GTA3
GTA1
GTA2
GTA: SAndreas

There are no other GTA games.

KiNgBrAdLeY7: Hmmm. You people actually make me sit down and rethink. Well, next time i am visiting that internet cafe, i will give it a 3+ hours go, just to judge it fairly. But going so far as to use a gamepad for pc gaming... I have never even thought of doing such a sacrifice! I hate consoles more than steam!
Hehe. The beauty of the PC is that it handles most peripherals and controllers very well. I might have distaste and dislike over some issues over modern day console companies and PC ports especially in the 2007-2010 years but I kinda grew up with the early Nintendo & Sega consoles and arcades as well as the PC so I can't say I hate consoles :)

My shitty 2 year old 760 GTX runs GTA V at 60fps. I don't know what the computer the internet cafe is running but GTA V runs smoothly even on built in graphics cards.
I was always against realism in GTA. Last thing I want on a GTA is for it to feel like I'm actually doing that crazy shit, or that that crazy shit could actually happen in reality. I just want the game to go bonkers. Which is why I abandoned the franchise and play Saints Row instead, like many other people here.

And i grew up with consoles, but mutated in a pc master race person. The only way for me to touch consoles now, is through emulators... And i manage to beat the games i am interested in, just fine, with keyboard and mouse.

About GTA V, though, i doubt my pc can handle it. It can barely run witcher 3, borderline well enough so it can be playable.

GTA 5 brought back that whackiness. It brought back fighting Miltiary and piloting Jets.

It has Ghosts, UFO's and Aliens. A Fireworks Launcher.

Some of the missions were ridiculous. It brought back the San Andreas level of whackiness.

I mutated aswell but there are times I prefer console versions. For one I prefer getting the Xbone/PS4 version of GTA 5 than on PC becuase I don't know if my PC can handle it.

KiNgBrAdLeY7: Plus a nostalgia freak???

Well, i have enjoyed GTA San Andreas, and to a lesser degree, ALL 3d era GTAs, IMMENSELY! I found their style, gameplay and feel exactly what i was looking for and suited my playstyle PERFECTLY!

As everyone knows, GTA V, since the very moment it came into PC, made a big ruckus. From bashing it to overpraising, to openly claiming from other players that it is the best in the series! Well, i decided to finally exit my cave, go to an internet cafe with high performance desktop pc and try it out personally. But i was startled...

Game felt to me as GTA 4 did and that is NOT meant to be a praise. The acceleration, handling and steering of cars seemed pretty terrible, chaotic and abysmal to me; i mean, even a great-looking sports car felt slow, would be derailed off-course as if it had been a bucket on wheels, driving a car outside of the main road is like a frost-cube sliding uncontrollably and long story short, for someone who has played San Andreas, modified, garaged and raced ALL sports and racing cars in it without problems like those, V seems and feels like a broken, clunky, piece of sh*t type of mess... There is no faqing CROUCH either, a key feature before. As others say, too, no gang wars, casino games, gym, stats etc., either... What is the idea behind all this content loss? I bet there is no stealth or stealth missions, either.

I am sure as hell don't buying it. Don't get me wrong, i won't pirate either. Is it my idea, on the long run, or this game is actually pretty bad, or if you prefer, lackluster? Or maybe i am a prehistoric freak doomed to be a pc caveman forever? Discuss, please...?
That's actually wrong. There are stats, with corresponding different activities to keep your characters from getting too fat, etc. The more you drive, the more the skill is increased, the more you fight, the more that skill is increased, shooting skills can be buffed at the range, flying, etc. Is it on the scale of San Andreas? Absolutely not. Then again, since San Andreas, there hasn't been another one on that scale either. I think rather that 5 is a step back towards SA, since 4 definitely was a step away from the rpg elements and activities that SA had. That said, I still enjoy 4 for different reasons. (Dialogue, characters, character acting, CAWZIN NEECO!)

This kinda sounds like you played it for like 5 minutes and walked away. :P

Well, this isn't very far off from the truth... I couldn't stomach how the cars drive... I still cannot get over the fugly experience of a gorgeous looking sports car, driving like icecube-bucket on wheels... This was terrifying. This made me go Alt+F4, open san andreas, to drive that FLASH or BULLET again, immediately.

cw8: GTA V is so much better than GTA IV it's not even funny.
avatar
KiNgBrAdLeY7: We agree on this one. 4 was so terrible, that was not even funny. Let alone so DRM-ridden, that i had to get a working crack for my retail, LEGIT copy, because it refused to run by itself.
I had such problems with my Steam copy of GTA 4. It lead to me throwing such a tantrum as to write a huge email to Rockstar and one even less tasteful to T2 telling them about how they needed to drop all their crappy DRM and release working games people would actually want to buy.

I gave up with the GTA's upon 4. I love 3, VC and SA to bits and still play them now and again. But even if GTA 5 came out here on GOG next week DRM-free, Rockstar can stuff their realism up their arses.
I moved over to Saints Row for the wacky story lines, fun game play and utter destruction. Nothing yet has beaten the moment I bashed that Catman to death with the penetrator bat.

Glad to see like-minded individuals! I am eagerly waiting for the bank embargo to end, so i can get that Saints Row here! Unfortunately, all prepaid cards are rendered useless locally, up until and the near future; ending date of this, as of currently, unknown.

This. So much this.

I might still pick it up for a hefty discount, but all in all if I have a sudden craving for old-school GTA fun I fire up Saints Row.

I have no intention of getting a modern day console as well. I beat most of my games with mouse and keyboard also. It's not about beating the game, it's about how good it feels. After having used a driving wheel, manual gear and pedal to play Euro Truck Simulator 2, you can beat me to death before I play the game with a keyboard or gamepad. Like I said, the PC is a flexible peripheral platform, I use whatever feels good and adds to the gaming experience.

TW3 actually is much more demanding than GTA V. TW3 runs off at 40-50 frames on avg at high settings for me while GTA V runs at 60 fps on high.

I love VC the most. SA didn't catch my attention and I stopped twice I tried to get into it for some reason. Same thing with GTA IV but then again GTA IV was a bad port.

Then Saints Row 3 came out and I loved it so much. It was smooth and an excellent PC port, not to mention it was pure fun and actually had a fun, epic storyline. Didn't like SR4 though, once I got the superpowers, the cars felt meaningless and my interest in SR4 faded away.

While I was put off by IV for that reason, I heard that to be the case indeed, and I welcome it. I even considered giving it a chance. Unfortunately, I'm assuming my laptop won't be able to run it anyway so I'm currently passing on it.
