I use Galaxy 1.2 and it is quite stable, and also way better, much more comfortable to use, and way less annoying than Galaxy 2.0.

Alright, first in your tongue, then in mine:

Программное обеспечение, которое не имеет намерения быть объявленным "золотым" или "стабильным для выпуска".

Будь то крысиное гнездо в коде или просто проблема ползучести функций, вечная бета-версия преследует многие программы.

[Software which has no intent of being declared as "golden" or "release stable".

Be it a rat's nest of code, or just a problem of feature creep, the perpetual beta haunts much software.]

There may be some language barrier so apologies if this doesn't make sense, but just to clarify:

"GOG" is a store that, mostly, sells what I consider to be DRM-free games.

"GOG Galaxy (including different version numbers)" is an allegedly "optional" client that manages games and is required for multiplayer (i.e. is a mechanism of multiplayer DRM) as well as Cyberpunk's "free" bonus singleplayer content (i.e. has now also been used as a mechanism of singleplayer DRM).

It is important we differentiate the store/company from the DRM client mechanism.

Unfortunately, I do not use the DRM client mechanism so I can't answer questions about if it's on beta or not.

GoG (the store) came out of beta on 22nd September 2010.

GoG Galaxy (the client) is probably still in beta. I don't use it, so I can't confirm either way.

Unless you're one of those people interested in "achievements" and "socials", you don't need to use the client for anything.

No problem, please also allow me to clarify my comment there; there are several games sold by GOG (this website store) which have multiplayer that does not require Galaxy. I meant in my comment that it is typical for online multiplayer to require it but not that it is the case 100% of the time. You may be interested in this thread on the subject:

As for cloud saves, that is something I believe you must be on Galaxy to have. If you would prefer not to use Galaxy and have downloaded the offline installers from your browser, then you may wish to consider backing up the saves on your own (such as on external usb drive). Note that you would have to know where the game saves to, in order to know where to copy the saves from. I recommend going to individual game forums here, or searching online to see where it saves. Some games also tie the save to registry data iirc, typically rogue-like games (to prevent "save-scumming").
rjbuffchix, thanks man! i was so sad when i bought the game and saw "beta version" later..i need cloud saves
so i suppose that have to stay with GOG Galaxy in oder to use it. I hope that it won't broke my save data.

Translate it, then translate it back again, then you can see where you may need to tweak things to make more sense. Well, it has worked for me...
